EXCLUSIVE: DRUG CONTROL AUTHORITY RESPONDS ON PHARMACIST ISSUE

Tiatoshi Amer, Controlling & Licensing Authority of the Drug Control Administration, Health and Family Welfare Government of Nagaland discussed the cancellation of 24 pharmacy licenses in Chumoükedima and Dimapur, stating that the action was taken under the Pharmacy Act to address long-standing regulatory issues. Despite multiple warnings, many pharmacies failed to comply with licensing requirements. Tiatoshi stated that only individuals qualified under the Pharmacy Act, as recognized by the state pharmacy council, are authorized to practice. He reinforced that the public cannot demand qualifications from pharmacists, as it is the department’s responsibility to ensure compliance. The department is committed to enforcing strict standards for public health safety.
