Here in the UK we always put the serrated edge out for maize and the plain side for grass. 800's only have a serrated edge. We also used to weld the bolts to the paddles. Saves hours trying to undo whilst holding an Allen key into a hole that has been wearing away! We used to put the additive in the centre of the concave that you drop down if the cylinder blocks. But you needed a good drill bit for the wear plate!! You plasma cutter would be great for that.👍
Duffy, keep in mind metal fabricators can save you $$$ on items such as blower housings, metal cowlings, etc. vs. the manufacturer parts. I grew up in my father's metal shop, using galvanized steel, stainless, metal plate if he could cut it, bend it, or weld it, he made it! You have Boston Welding in Carlisle MA.
You’re probably right. I’m pretty good at maintaining my machine, when we want to chop, we do it when we want and not wait on the custom guy. I can make a little money or help neighboring farms with their crops. Plus I really like running our machine but it does take money to keep it field ready.
While you've got these things out and apart you should make patterns of the parts you can create from plate and sheet steel like the big gear for guiding the spout. I'd bet replacing that 3x would cost more than a plasma cutter, gas and plate to make it 3x. The chopping blades are also a possibility, having a couple blower panels pre-made would be a very cheap thing. It also wouldn't be too hard to create the dual-roller former for the pick-up's round metal bibs, that'd help keep them shaped as well as enable making new ones in the long run. Farming's always been about basic tool-making as well as maintenance.
If that was me I'd just out a new chopper blower box in and be finished with it iv done restoration on machines like that and it will just wear some or crack somewhere else Put a new one in guys 😎😁
have the same light attached to my hardhat for work. Would highly recommend snagging a 3.0 red lithium battery by Milwaukee. They last a lot longer on a single charge if you use it a lot.
one thing when cutting or attaching any thing to a blower fan dont forget to balance it if not balanced you will knock the bearing out as fast as you use it.
I was finally the first to watch. I look forward to your daily post. I will be starting my farming adventure next year. I too like older equipment. If I was to do anything different from you I would paint stuff as I fixed it but you rock.
Blow the loose and/or dry stuff off with air first then pressure wash. Once you get it wet the debris turns into a sodden mess that you're moving from one spot to another.
Silage cutters are money pits. My neighbor has 2. Has both went down last week. Both due to kernal processors breaking. The problem with identical cutters is the same parts break. Thousands in parts plus labor. And being down a week due to parts availability as well.
I can always worse. My brother worked at a farm were they keep fixing a chopper they basicly rebuild the entire engine some more fixes. When they were done with the chopper and traded it in they expected to get 110procent of the buying price
It amazes me the amount of keyboard critics there are. I say start your channel and let us know so we can pop in to see how you manage breaks, n life’s obstacles
i am back life turns bad for me i am disabled my lawyer forgot with the government over covid my lawyer wonder to know it wa safe for me to get the vaccine they had to sign billion dollar
I would spray some paint on the bad rusted area since you have all the cutter parts out so you don't have any body problems. Great 👍 video 👍 📹
When welding linear cracks, drill a hole at each end of the crack, before welding to eliminate further stress cracks and ensuring a strong weld!
Generally speaking that's a cast iron trick.
@@nitetrane98 Yes works on cast, as well as other metals.
Even if you can’t weld it up right away drill the holes and stop the crack from running! It will keep it from spreading and buy you a little time!
That was great wrenching the chopper looks good and I think you did a great job thanks for sharing and your time just great video
The satisfaction is when you start it up go use it and know that your repair works great. Have a good day.
Duffy rocks dam hard worker
Once you are finished chopper should run like new! 👍👍👍

I watch you all the time and I enjoy the content
Have fun in New York
Snapon is the best and a hot water pressure washer will make life easy
can't wait to see the 7520 packing silage Im gonna help my neighbor do his corn ssilage
Love the consistent quality content, loving it all the way from Utah. The practices are not so different out there as they are here.
Harvester be running smoothly now you should swap all panels make it look fresh
Shiny new boots 👢
Love Milwaukee! Looking good. Nice to be getting somewhere on your projects!

One thing I never calculated was the time maintaining my silage kit, when you sit down and work it out it certainly makes sense to use a custom cutter.
IMO a custom cutter would almost always make sense if you could consistently get them when you want them.

Thinking about it, the amount of parts Duffy has bought this year.
He could open a part store, plenty of experience in 2021
chris i love your chanel dont mind harmless comments

Best place for your Inoculant is righ in top of the chopper knifes, best for mixing with silage.
Rock on.. I on project too. Great job
GREAT tunes

Having it clean helps, so u can look for more cracks that may need welded an bad spots on hoses. It sucks but it's worth it
7" near the mason Dixon line Duffy.

I hollered at u as u went into the hardware store to get the inoculant fitting but u didn't hear it me!

You need to reseal and paint that blower housing to keep it from rusting away.

Love your shirts and graphics, but I didn't see Yenko on it......

How do you like the extended tip on the plasma cutter? I have seen them but never used them
no grease fittings on the blower bearings?
I was just thinking can't you rebuild your parts chopper in to a selfpropelled mower
for your pressure washer get a cutting tip works way faster
What kind of cutter are you using.
take the fitting out of the other blower
Hey just wondering when can we see the dump wagon in use its al ways in your intro and I kinda wanna see it in use
Do you have a budget for parts and repairs per year or do you just take a hit and fix whatever needs fixing at whatever it costs?
thatl really shit the bicycles and cars out now just kidin lmao
man your not supposed to get new boots until you can look down and see your toes lol
3 inches the day after spreading manure. 2 inches would have been better but some is better than none.
Pressure washing always seems like u miss something if u don't take a step back and look at it after u think u are done
Have you found out why it want charge
I might have made the trip down but chinada.. I mean Canada still has the border closed because of the chinaflu
It amazes me the amount of keyboard critics there are. I say start your channel and let us know so we can pop in to see how you manage breaks, n life’s obstacles
Hopefully, you're not gonna have that out again, so it was the perfect time to pressure wash it.
I'd say theres a lot of hours on her
How come Yenko helps out all the time except when you are welding? What a wimp!

Love your video understand ur doing one every day but they are getting to short
The 2 previous videos were over 20 minutes long
I’d rather have a 15 min video everyday than a 30 min video once in a while. That gets to Long. Keep doing what your doing.
i am back life turns bad for me i am disabled my lawyer forgot with the government over covid my lawyer wonder to know it wa safe for me to get the vaccine they had to sign billion dollar
IF YOU CANT AFFORD ANYTHING BUT JUNK QUIT FARMING!
I’m curious Randy what do you do for a living that has enabled you so much knowledge and wisdom?
One man's junk, is another man's treasure! That's just your opinion.
Please share blower router rpm and details in pdf format. Thanks in advance.
chopper is junk burn it and get a new one
Supply the Money to buy a new chopper.
