As a NASCAR fan who's ventured into F1 I can officially say there's many races even outside of f1 that tire (or tyres for all the British people) that it would look like came from that race
If you adjust the grip multipliers to be on not so drastically different ends of the scale and this is actually great adaptability training for racers, teaches you how to adjust speed, brake points, and turning all on the fly
It was a smart move to change tires just before the grip was reduced to 0, otherwise you might have crashed. I do think the range of the grip modifiers was too high, though.
