What is Musicology anyway? Or Ethnomusicology, Music Analysis, Popular Music Studies, Music and Critical Race Theory, and more besides? What about the difference between studying music at a University or Conservatoire? This video, introducing the channel, gives an overview of what musicology is and what musicologists do.

This is perfectly timed. I have been a musician for about 15 years and a guitar teacher for 5, and just recently came across the term musicology. I’m very interested to learn more about it!

What is musicology? The critical study of how humans interact with relationships in sound. How's the for a definition?
Hi! I'm interested on doing a research on uruguayan (I'm chilean) musician Eduardo Mateo. The problem is that I have a degree on filmmaking. I've been a musician all my life, but I don't have any degree to show my knowledge on that area. Do you think I'd be admisible for master programs in the UK? Do you know if I have more chances to try that on France (I speak french too) ??
If someone asks me, what musicology is, I tend to answer "It´s everything of music, except making it" (Even if there are a lot of musicologists who are also making music)
I would like to know which two books on musicology I should buy.
I graduated in 2020 with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, but I want to do a Masters in Musicology. I feel this deep need to study it, however I have no guidance, I don’t know any musicologists in my life, my music history professor was close to retirement and stopped caring about his job and students long ago (tenure) and then promptly retired and fucked off to Maine. I’m also insecure about my research and writing skills as a performance degree isn’t really meant to hone those skills. Do you have any advice? Or would you be willing to make some videos for people like me who are interested in the field but have no guidance/don’t know where to start?
EDIT: If it helps, I’m interested in studying Latin American/Spanish music, Ladino music, art song & poetry, opera (I haven’t really narrowed it down yet but I figure that’s okay at this point in my education).
