EPCOT Construction Update August 2023 - Communicore Hall/Plaza, More Poles Added in Lagoon

- Here is the latest construction update over at EPCOT, filmed on August 26th 2023. More of those poles/pilings are being added in the World Showcase Lagoon for the new fireworks show coming to the park. The work over in the Communicore Hall/Plaza area has slowed down, at least it looks that way lol. Some new theming was added right outside the entrance to the Moana Journey of Water walkthrough. I’d say they look like fake tiki torches, which I’m sure will also be lit up in some way at night.

I finally got to see the Canada 360 show that day I saw you.
I guess I haven’t been missing much lol.
I really can’t wait to see how much of this is finished when I come back In November. I would assume Moana will be open.
I’m just hoping the lagoon doesn’t become an eyesore again. It was nice to be able to see across without those sill globes.
Haha yea, that show isn’t as good as it used to be! Moana should be open when you return in November. The lagoon views should still remain, these poles are going to be driven into the ground! The barges they built backstage have motors and literally look like boats lol, so they will be transported back and forth each day it seems. Thank you as always my friend!
The Original "O Canada" 360 film was far superior to "Canada Far and Wide."
Disney used two of Canada's most talented comedic actors - Catherine O'Hara and Eugene Levy in this most recent film, and then chose NOT to allow them to be funny.
That's a real shame.
😪Oh, EPCOT, what you have put up with. I'm disappointed how the poles sticking up will affect the Friendship boats but at least you can see past them. Also, there were arial pics of of mechanisms that will be ridden into the lagoon like for Illuminations. 🔥Faux torches like at DL, sure! 🔥Our chariot in the sky makes me wonder about the stage for NYE, so will cancel & wait. 🙄Have you seen how far Universal has gotten doing a whole park & one building is problematic here?? oh well, here's to a productive/motivated week for all!😛💜
If you are talking about the tall poles in WS Lagoon, they will be driven into the ground eventually, so you don't have to worry about views.
@@triton6127 Thanks, good info to know. Let me rephrase then, I hope the poles being driven down will allow for the closed station of the Friendship boats to reopen. (Or they're just being cheap🤷♀)
Yea, at this point I don’t think that Germany Friendship boat station will ever open again 😂 And yes, I saw the smaller barges that were built look/act like boats lol. What a substantially better idea compared to those Harmonious barges. Universal definitely has ppl working 24/7 on Epic universe, at least it looks that way! Thanks so much as always Liz😊
I really hope some of these projects get done and the walls come down. It was depressing walking around those area and it seemed to get worst from my trip last year. Don’t get me wrong. I like change, I also like completion…
you do know it takes time to build stuff?
It becomes clearer by the day, that as the "New Epcot" refurbishment moves along, "Journey into Imagination with Figment" has been left in the dust.
It will always be Epcot's "neglected middle child"....
I understand that construction takes time on Communicore Hall.
I do NOT understand, however, why it is taking so ridiculously long to plant some trees and gardens in the "Epcot Crater" next to Connections.
In that section of the construction project, they are clearly dragging their feet.
My guess is that they want the gardens and Walt's statue to be the final piece of the Epcot Project. But still. Surely they could knock down a few construction walls and open up some of that area by now.

Meanwhile, Universal is building a new theme park, multiple hotels and the infrastructure to support them; all of which will be operational in 2025. Disney's slow-paced construction is mind-boggling!

Yep for sure! The construction walls at Moana were removed earlier this morning, so you can really get a good view of the entrance now. If only I waited a couple more days to film this😂 Thanks so much as always Andrew!
I am hopeful for increased momentum this fall so World Celebration will be open in time for Festival of the Holidays!

I've figured out why Disney is dragging their feet on finishing Communicore Plaza - they love your channel and want to keep providing you with construction content! Ha! At least they seem to be moving on Tiana's ride but the work pace at Epcot is ridiculous. Fingers crossed it's done before my next trip! In 2025!! :-) Thanks as always!
Hahaha wouldn’t that be something 😂 I honestly enjoy filming these updates, but even I’m excited for this to end lol. No worries though, Dinoland USA at Animal Kingdom will be completely destroyed at some point probably so my construction filming services will still be needed elsewhere haha. Wondering what all I will see in 3 weeks!?!? I had hoped for more walls down…. Oh well, most of my Epcot time will be in World Showcase…enjoying festival foods!! Does it look like the new Commuincor Plaza performace venue will hold a larger audience than the America Gardens Theater? Thank you for this update, 4K!!! always enjoy seeing the progress, even when slow 🙃
There will be seating? I thought this was a walk thru area but I saw no drawing so I'm curious also. I cancelled NYE because I'll wait for all to be done.

I have my trip in 4 weeks, we’ve had it planned for a while in hopes that all the construction and updates would be done in time for our visit, but it seems not! Absolutely gutted! We will still make the most of it. Hoping you have a fabulous trip also!
The walls over at Moana were removed earlier this morning, so at least some walls are gone! I don’t believe that Communicore Plaza Stage will have seating to my knowledge, but maybe I’m wrong. It’s kind of going to be like that stage that was added to the Fountain of Nations back in the day. Thank you as always Rick!

RE: Fireworks Show Preparations
While those pipes look so much better than the barges, its a shame they can't just do like they did with Illuminations and haul them out in the late afternoon.
One of the attractions of Epcot is its spread-out beauty. Anything that mars the views across the lake is unfortunate.
But then, it is unfortunate they got rid of Illuminations in the first place. It was timeless and provided original and good music.
It’s always my pleasure Ken! Those pipes will be drilled into the ground so they won’t be sticking up like that permanently thankfully. Disney has actually built brand new smaller barges backstage, and they will be moved in and out daily like with Illuminations! Thanks so much for always watching😃
