Tuonela is realm of the dead, "underworld", in Finnish mythology. The trip to there requires in the final phase crossing of the river of Tuoni. The river is black and sacred swan is swimming there.
I hope death is as enjoyable as this music.

As high caliber professionals they deserve the money they get indeed.
The digital concert hall is one of the biggest revenues this orchestra has besides the tickets so I think we should keep supporting this kind of musicians the same way we do with all those mega pop and rock stars.
maybe excellence at the highest level that required lifetime commitments from composer, conductor, the institution of the BPO and the infrastructure that supports it shouldnt just be free. in fact that kind of thinking was tried last century and the results were LACKLUSTER.

I hope you excuse my curiosity but what kind of cor anglais does Dominik plays on? I spotted the extension to Bb(Eb concert pitch) but can't really pinpoint the instrument's brand. Not that it matters just simple curiosity if you could evacuate my doubt
At the time of this video recording, Dominik was playing on his Loree English horn of 25 years (with low Bb extension), but in the last year or so, has changed to the new Buffet-Crampon English horn, also with low Bb.
I like him very much, too, but I do prefer Judy Proctor and Rixon Thomas!

He is the English Hornist in the Berlin-freakin Phil. He gets whatever instrument he wants - no questions asked.
Not all of us play as well as he does
You can search for an old second hand English horn: They were often built with low Bb-key. They lack the 3. octave key, though (if you want to play Donizetti...)

His conducting is a bit heavy handed. This is supposed to be mystical, spiritual, ethereal. I hear none of that - just deliberate, loud playing.
Agreed. Then try Leif Segrrstam on Ondine with the Helsinki Philharmonic.
