It got this in black a few years ago and felt the same dilemma with the length--got true to size and thought that the torso was too short. After the break-in period, though, the leather loosened up and found myself wearing it unzipped most of the time. The quality of the leather and details in the craftmanship are better than most in the price range. I really love the jacket, but I wish it was an inch or two longer in the chest. Solid 9/10 for me.
Greetings. As i recall, the vintage moto jacket was produced by Golden Bear in 1973 and was owned by the father of a later worker of Taylor Stitch. There are some great pics online of the vintage patina'd jacket on one side with the color darkened and the sleeves heavily creased, while on the other side, the new jacket with pretty much no wear at all. I didn’t think I would like this jacket at all, but after looking at their site, it actually looks well made. It’s really tough to find a leather jacket that ticks all the boxes. A few years ago I bought a Schott and it’s been great. My next one will be a “no expense spared” like an aero or himel, etc.
really like these jackets. i wear them in the winter while riding because they come with insulation. the fit is really nice. the leather is so soft and supple. have both the midnight and loden. pop the collar is a great look. one of the only usa made products they still carry.
And interestingly enough, actual functional leather jackets (And also denim and canvas and so on) tend to be heavily cropped. I got several ones and two at least are heavily cropped. In theory any jacket should get just below the belt line. In some cases i found that akward, like in a bomber jacket i used to have, and since the waist is cuffed it felt like the jacket only reached half my back, lol But with full leather garments, i really like having it past just below the belt. By the way, i notice the jacket has a two piece back with a simple stitching, it has always seem to me like a bad sign, since it will stretch and the seam will also stretch out and allow water inside. A single piece back like Schott's 688 or pretty much all the Perfectos and the Cafecto, or a two piece back with better stitching (Which i would still not consider reliable enough) are better. Or, an easy way to save money and avoid that problem, a shoulder pad made out of a single piece of leather but the rest of the back below that made out of two pieces. Greetings
Great looking jacket and a brand I’ve thought about trying as well. There’s been a few shearling coats that I’ve wanted where I’ve fallen in between two sizes and in sucks for me, not my wallet 😅
I think cause your TALL it affected the fit. Obviously this will fit MOST. Have you tried the Schott Waxed Natural Pebbled Cowhide Café Leather Jacket? Might be an option if your still looking. Not a bad looking jacket. Honestly, I would pay a little more for an aero leather custom jacket. Im also 6'1 about 160, so similar to you. I really can't afford a new aero, but used are not bad price wise.
Did TS say what the color was for the Medium jacket? I bought a Whiskey jacket that looks super organge still; the medium is a little closer to what they originally billed the whiskey as...
I'm sure they will release it again this year. If I were to bet, I would expect emails about it in September. I don't have any inside info, but that's my suspicion.
@@watchreport I think they will. They re-release it every year, but I'm sure they don't sell as well in the summer months. This is one of their best-sellers, so I would just keep an eye open. :)
Small fitted you best. Length was fine, you’re just used to longer jackets. I mean look at how long your untucked shirt is compared to it in the medium. It’s honestly not even close to short considering it’s hanging below your belt line on medium to short rised pants. I would say consider the fact that what makes a moto jacket appealing is the functionality in the fit rather than it’s appearance. Medium fits you better in the chest, sleeves can be shortened, but length is a little long. On another note this Jacket is Great 1,200, leather and fit are okay. I will say naked steerhide is a little weak stretches out a little too much. Schott and Aero will be a better buy for a perfect leather jacket around that price pointS
I'm sorry (quality aside) but that's the ugliest leather jacket I've ever seen in my life. Okay, perhaps not the ugliest...but it's not a good look IMO. I own a half-dozen leather jackets, and I'd kick my own ass if I ever caught myself wearing this one. Heck, Happy Days would have been cancelled after a couple weeks had Fonzie been seen wearing it. Cool? I think not. LOL! But keep the content coming... Cheers!

Looking at this jacket & sizing is a concern. What is your sleeve length? I have a 35” sleeve & wide shoulders.
The medium is bang on. Moto jackets are long in the sleeve traditionally. That small is tiny on you.
