@ozsmallbore Agreed. I've struggled with editing several of these episodes because Dean was present in many of the scenes. It's difficult to know how much or little to show and how to honor his memory. RIP: Dean St. Louis. 😔🙏🏻 --QM

@@jasontomica8938I'm editing the episode for Day 6 now, and I hope to have it ready this weekend. I'm cutting down the timeline from ~10.5 hours with a target of about 1 hour. The unfortunate part about that process is that scrubbing through and cutting the video requires 4-8x the original timeline, again and again and again. Wish me luck and think caffeinated thoughts! It's tough to choose one favorite area of the US, but I'd have to say mine is the Ozarks in AR and MO. There are no bad roads to ride throughout western AR and southern MO... there are no straight lines anywhere. The Appalachians are a runner up only because that's much farther for me to ride... the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains are truly amazing. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
🤣 It's a friggin' basket case now! That poor little mule is still sitting in my garage and hasn't been touched AT ALL since I returned from Cannonball. No bath, no broken parts inventory, no remediation, dead battery, busted plastics... it looks like a theft recovery! 🤣 Fortunately, the plastics and most of the repair items are relatively inexpensive and easy to obtain. I'm hoping to have time (and money) to do the full teardown and remediation on it sometime this spring. If/when that happens, I'll be sure to video the process so everyone can follow along. I might even do a livestream series for those repairs... we'll see! Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
Howdy, and thanks for the well wishes! I'm still recovering slowly from the motorcycle accident back in October 2023. I'm hoping to be back out riding and motocamping in the next few weeks if the doctors give me the "all clear". My lower back and neck are still healing (numbness and occasional weakness/paralysis on my left side), so I'm playing it safe until I feel closer to 100%. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
You should have seen me bringing my new Honda Helix home from Detroit. Buddy driving my car behind me in a massive storm, flood waters and a tornado touch down. When I made it into my home city some of the roads were so flooded I had to turn it off and walk it through. Cars were getting stranded.
yesterday i got in rain and it felt like i was getting stabbed with needles. no rain gear no gloves. and i had to stop less than 2 miles from home. it hurt so bad. i was just going to DG for cokes. only 6 miles.
🤣 You are correct, sir! In the unedited version, a couple of those chickens dumped right as I passed by... perfect timing! @@QuasiMotard did we ever figure out why he did it, very upsetting and i get mad when someone does this, becuase thier is help out there for all of us not just dean.
That's a good question, and it really depends on the type of adventure or road trip that I'm taking. Overall, the Super Cub gets the nod as the better small-bore touring machine due to its higher top speed and better aerodynamics. However, the Cub doesn't perform well on rough roads or off-road adventures, so that's where the CT125 is a much better tool for the job. The CT125 is geared lower, so it struggles to maintain 50-55 mph on the back roads while the Super Cub can maintain 55-60 mph without struggling nearly as much. Another drawback of the CT125 is the spoked rims and tube tires... those are a pain to patch when you get a flat tire. You're forced to remove the wheel from the bike, dismount the tire and tube, and then patch the tube. When you're remounting and reinflating the tire, it's not uncommon to puncture the tube again (pinch-flat), so it can be a real trial... sometimes an hour or more of frustration. Conversely, the Super Cub uses tubeless tires, and patching is a simple affair. You just stab a standard plug-patch through the outside of the tire and then reinflate with a CO2 cartridge or hand pump. You can be back on the road within 5 minutes: th-cam.com/video/YlIA6bm1-wk/w-d-xo.html . Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
OKI am confused on day 3 or day 4. Whatever that was, you fixed it on the side of the road twice. Then you went to the hotel and camped your tent outside and the bike was already running fine. You were running like really late near 11 PM or so up in the high mountains of New Mexico. But then I'm confused. How did you end up in the support vehicle? From the video several days ago because your bike was working correctly after the second belt. Fix when you got to the hotel. You made it all the way there near santa fe new mexico
That's correct... I made it through the end of Day 3, but just barely. The CVT was completely shot when I inspected it on the morning of Day 4, and that's when I finally diagnosed the dead torque drive assembly. The support trucks had already rolled out, so I hitched a ride on Virginia Cherry's personal support trailer (just so the official support trucks didn't need to backtrack 40-50 miles to pick me up). I continued my ride of shame on the morning of Day 5. Luckily, one of my channel subscribers ("Dino Spumoni") overnighted his complete OEM PCX150 CVT assembly to the hotel in Miami, OK. I rebuilt the CVT that evening, and then I was able to ride Days 6-8 of the Cannonball. 😉👍 --QM
@jasontomica8938 Hell no! Quasi no quit! I rode Days 6-8 and had a nasty gravel crash at 35 mph about halfway thru Day 8. I picked up my busted scooter, dusted myself off, then continued to the finish! Across the following two days, I rode another 1100 miles back to Houston with a busted up, Gorilla-taped scooter and a severely swollen right knee and a swollen, sprained left hand. There is a fine line between bravery and stupidity... I still haven't figured out where that line is drawn! 🤣👍 --QM
Agreed! Usually, Hondas are nearly indestructible. My PCX150 had a suspect torque drive assembly since it was new (always shuddered the belt at takeoff and had weak acceleration from a stop). The failing torque drive and the Dr.Pulley performance variator finally gave up, so that's why it was eating CVT belts so quickly. After I reverted to all OEM components (and a good torque unit), I didn't have any more failures throughout the event. I was limited to 62-64 mph top speed (down from 74-77 mph) with the OEM parts, but my reliability was restored. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
Are you asking about me (QuasiMotard)? I'm still healing from my accident in October 2023, and I hope to be out riding again later this month or early February. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
