- One of the joys of this movie is that it seems to start out with the seasoned, confident writer, Elliot, as mentor to the inexperienced and nervous newbie, Cassie -- and very soon shows that they are supporting each other, both giving and receiving.

Elliot and Cassie have some of the same insecurities when it comes to what to write next! I love how they feel comfortable enough to share this with one another. They end up encouraging and inspiring each other. Two writers who become fast friends then fall in love! So sweet! Love all things Mcgarry!
Kevin is such a good actor you can really sense the writers block his character Elliott is feeling. Jen never missed a beat....they played off each other beautifuly! Ever scene in this movie is wonderfully excited!
It's so cute how they try to hide the fact that they are reading each other's book! They really do complement each other in so many ways! I love how flirtatious they can be one minute then be serious! Great movie in every way!
I agree! I love the smirk on Elliot's face when he opens Cassies' book probably for the third or fourth time! You can tell he is very interested in who she is and what she has to say!
I love that too! How he hides it under the covers, and she does the same with his book. The progression of this relationship is so well written ❤️
I agree! It's so cute that they both hide the books under the covers, but Elliott has always let her know that he read her book right away and that he not only enjoyed it, but he learned a lot he could apply to himself also.
Yes, which means when he hides it at the B&B it's because he's re-reading it ❤️ The best compliment an author can get.
Like Cassie says...they do make a pair. This pair needs to make another movie!!
So as a writer, I can identify. But I’d be happy to listen as he bounces more story ideas around. Or he could read the installation instructions for my new hot water heater. I’d listen just as happily! Sigh.

Susan, you used the perfect word to describe the magic of this scene - vulnerable. By this point in the movie we've come to realize that Elliott is not the confident diva that Cassie originally thought he was, but this scene takes his character to an even deeper level. It's about as personal as it gets and kudos to Kevin for making that so clear by the way he uses his voice to say that he never thought he'd be divorced. You can tell that it shook him to his core. Kevin is such an amazing actor, especially when it comes to communicating emotion! The vulnerability that Elliott shows in this scene is so moving! Thanks, Susan!
