Odd howPayton calls Alice the love of his life, but was able to separate himself from her for 3 years. On the other hand, River's faith, support and guidance are so vital that Payton conjures him from the dead. Who does he love more?
Great review i liked that the show doesn’t take itself too seriously. And I loved the show. But some character decisions are weird and forced just to deive a plot. For instance when Keaton Hobart puts Payton out of his will when Payton nearly dies, even though we learnt that Keaton was very appreciative of Payton reading to him and exposing the twins. Also when Payton doesn’t look back at Alice didn’t serve any point, apart so that in the end she can bring it up and say how it hurt her... Yea just some of the things that made me scratch my head
LOST131100 I undesirables why he didn’t look back,it was to show that he loved that election more than his girlfriend and he was probably bitter about her getting into Harvard, but the whole will think didn’t make much sense, you have to be a dumb idiot to completely take your dying son out of a will bc your wife left you, especially considering that he was the only person there for Hobart when he was dying
SO.....Peyton is Bi and River was his significant Love and his relationship with Alice is primarily political, which is why he wasn't that fazed by her sleeping with James, which is why they were still together and James was still on the ticket? McAfee had a secret relationship with Skye, who tried to poison (and or kill!!!) Peyton, though she didn't know but because she wasn't honest about her relationship with Skye, he banishes her from his life yet James who had an affair with Alice is still his best friend and its all sunshine and roses? Oh but Peyton and Alice was just for show, "President and First Lady" so its not like Peyton really was in love with Alice CUT TO 3 YEARS LATER and after not speaking to Alice for two years, he finds out she's getting married and goes all romcom race to the airport to win her back with tears streaming down his face cause SHE IS the Love if his life. Oh and Skye who tried to kill Him! and broke the friendship with McAfee is now one of his good friends from out of town???? WTF
i don't think payton went back to alice's wedding to win her back because she was the love of his life. I think the reason of his desperation to win her back, was that he saw his plan falling apart and he couldn't do anything about it. I vividly remember payton saying that his plan to become president involved him marrying his high school sweetheart, and i think it broke his heart because he didnt have any influence over that part of his plan anymore. He wanted that control back, and won her back i guess. But thats just my interpretation:)
I actually thoroughly enjoyed this show and thought it was fun and wacky, however I think that the many different plot points in it were confusing at times, along with some of the character’s motives and why they were doing them which sometimes wasn’t explained clearly. Also I VERY much appreciated how they had Ben singing because he has the voice and talent of a literal angel. Overall, I’d say I enjoyed this show and would recommend it and probably watch it again 👍👍
Jetrowdy yea like Skye poisoning plot was too much, then Keaton putting back the twins in his Will just because Georgina was planning to go rogue 🤣 But i disagree that having multiple plot lines took away. It was awesome
That's just Ryan Murphy. He does this in most of his shows; Glee, scream Queens, Even some season of AHS. I think his better work are his mini series that Focus on real stories, like american crime story and feud
A lot of people have talked abt this and Zoey Deutch who plays infinity said in an interview she doesn’t want people to immediately assume it’s based off of gypsy rose because Ryan Murphy write that into the plot before that story came out and other people in the world have to deal with Munchhausen by proxy
Smol Sunshine right lol.. I’m glad they didn’t try to pin Astrid’s fake kidnapping on him. I for sure thought the storyline was going to go down that route.
To appreciate this show, you have to appreciate the holy trinity of our times: Ryan Murphy&Brad Falchuk&Ian Brannan... these three men can make a show out of phonebook and I'd still watch it because it's so current, smart, interesting, beautifully shot, full of pop culture references as well as political satires. They always do that. This is their style and it sells. It sold with Nip/Tuck, sold with Glee, sold with whole AHS and ACS franchise. They understand what it takes to create magical TV for TODAY. and their cast choices are always on point. They create iconic characters and it's not an easy thing to do. I admire what they do so much that I'd give my right arm just to work for/with them. Well, I'm a lefty anyway.
People saying characterization and acting is over the top etc and I’m here like “do you not know the premise of the show? Just sit back and watch and chill”
The last 4 episodes reminded me of the last 3 seasons of Glee. They sucked. This series had a strong and promising introduction however, it just fell flat towards the end. The romance stopped making sense, the trailer queer baited me, and how does ANYONE become friends with someone who tried to poison them 🙄
Mazvita Selemani yea that last part was weird.. like yea I’m just going to ignore that you tired to kill me to be a fucking high school president and now 3 years later were best friends.
Akilah C. Politics I guess 🤷🏾♂️. The trailer is drastically underwhelming compared to the actual show. Honestly, the show wasn't filmed with the typical American style of pacing. It was all over the place but in a good way? You don't have to like a person to need their skills and what they have to offer.
it's about bipartidism so everything it's good and wrong at the same time, at the end it about fakeness, as river said, non of this are biographys when refering to the books that payton have read.
A few things, that was infinity’s grandmother not her mother. The one girl who wanted to vote but couldn’t was not going to vote for Payton. Payton was shown to care about the “voter”, via the bathroom in detention scenes.
i fucking love the show, just as much as i enjoy first season of scream queens, i hape this time they do it better. i love those characters, and i love how the put a pause in the middle and then take again the energy
I felt so bad for Payton's character, he seemed like he always 'put on a face' but he would only show his self true self when he was with River, as he loved him and felt guilty for not being with him especially after his death. Just my thought on him
okay let me just say that i don't like Alice like yeah maybe she's a good girl (but still not my cup of tea), but she and Payton are soooo bad for each other. i want to see Payton in a loving relationship with some sweet sweet guy who will love him so much (not in a way River did, because that's impossible, but i want him to feel just something really light and gentle towards Payton) Alice is just not like that. she's a stone cold bitch as she stated herself, and also I'm really mad at her cheating on Payton with James because that was straight-up backstabbing AND leaving her fiancé at the altar because no one deserves that and she was so wrong for doing that because she and Payton will only continue to hurt each other and also Skye doesn't fucking make any sense, she was literally trying to kill him???? she's like the only character i absolutely despise so i was so mad to see she's still keeping in touch with the gang so yeah the show's great but i just want to see Payton getting the sweetest gentlest love in the world that he absolutely deserves my poor baby
As much as most people kinda disliked Alice or had a neutral reflection of her, despite being as low as Payton, she was a great complex character. I loved her, she was my favourite character.
If Sherlock,, and Alison (the girl from pretty little liars) can in the twist of moment, actually live and cheat death, how could River can't? I think as long as the director and co agreed to it, they can make and insert a believable story line / excuse for his fake death
What i did not understand was Peyton and his mother were cut off from all monies , she had an auction but gave it all to charity, 3 years later he's at nyu, who's paying? Also how did James get to nyu and i thought james wanted noting more to do with Peyton? and if he is kick starting a new campaign how can he afford it, bette midler is the best thing about the last episode,
In all honesty. I was impressed when the series started but as it went on it felt like a drag. I almost stopped watching but being the TV lover I am. I watched until the end and I was so pleased with the handling of the Season finale. I'm excited for season two and the music was amazing. Ryan Murphy always finds amazing singers.
I kinda liked the first season but why did they have to make the whole River ghost thing. I simply hate when shows do that it's simply ridiculous. I was ok with the idea of having past and present in paralell like in the first episode to see how the two got to that point in their relationship but nope. Their relationship is barely explored but yet we have his "ghost" all the time. I really hope he doesn't return in season 2 despite finding their romantic story incredibly cute and they have a great chemistry together.
I thought the show had so much potential. I was so frustrated and disappointed. I don’t know why I had such expectations for the same man who made Glee.
What did you think of The Politician? I liked it better than some of the reviews that have been coming out. #bigdumbweiner

I wish I had a River...
5:50 omg I literally thought that!!
i fucking love the show, just as much as i enjoy first season of scream queens, i hape this time they do it better. i love those characters, and i love how the put a pause in the middle and then take again the energy
I wish Alice wouldn't have come back to Payton, that makes the scene in the coffee shop (which i thought was wonderful) kinda meaningless..
I felt so bad for Payton's character, he seemed like he always 'put on a face' but he would only show his self true self when he was with River, as he loved him and felt guilty for not being with him especially after his death. Just my thought on him
I looked it up and every state has different ages for STATE senate (not the US Senate) and New York's age of candidacy is 18
Robyn Strazisar However, to run you must live in the state for at least five years. Payton has only lived there for three, at most.
It’s the NY state senate, not US senate.

I hope we still have Jessica Lange in the next season.
Mars She doesn’t like to do the same character twice.
With infinity being grown and healthy.. I don’t see how Jessica Lange character would fit into the new season.. unless they do a flashback.
diva1675 lol constance
anyone here after watching season 2?
Love this show and I hope there's a season 2
@@yamatheprophet What do you mean? Has it been renewed?
@@JackV315 yh
Payton should end up with River. As that's impossible, the series failed. Sorry.
He’ll find a new river.
The fuck? Just because your ship doesn't end up together doesn't mean it failed..... I hate shippers.
@@morley247 do you know what a joke is
"I wish I had a river"
Same, Payton. Same.. 😔
The show was filmed at my school (the auditorium and some outside shots of the school )
Really? Awesome.
You have a beautiful school lol
This is amazing writing. Legendary series
I didn’t connect the dots of voter suppression and voter apathy as a possibility of why Payton didn’t truly win the popular vote. Thanks for that!
i just want river and payton together
Um it was infinity’s grandmother not mother
We need River back
i think this show has an amazing plotline ! Just finished watching the first season and it was amazing
The acting and the production of this show is everything riverdale wants to be
okay let me just say that i don't like Alice
like yeah maybe she's a good girl (but still not my cup of tea), but she and Payton are soooo bad for each other. i want to see Payton in a loving relationship with some sweet sweet guy who will love him so much (not in a way River did, because that's impossible, but i want him to feel just something really light and gentle towards Payton)
Alice is just not like that. she's a stone cold bitch as she stated herself, and also I'm really mad at her cheating on Payton with James because that was straight-up backstabbing AND leaving her fiancé at the altar because no one deserves that and she was so wrong for doing that because she and Payton will only continue to hurt each other
and also Skye doesn't fucking make any sense, she was literally trying to kill him???? she's like the only character i absolutely despise so i was so mad to see she's still keeping in touch with the gang
so yeah the show's great but i just want to see Payton getting the sweetest gentlest love in the world that he absolutely deserves my poor baby
O watched the show bc the trailer was awesome that whole “We promise you”was genius, and I loved the show,at least they gave me what the promised me
I hate that they killed off river in episode 1
As much as most people kinda disliked Alice or had a neutral reflection of her, despite being as low as Payton, she was a great complex character. I loved her, she was my favourite character.
If Sherlock,, and Alison (the girl from pretty little liars) can in the twist of moment, actually live and cheat death, how could River can't? I think as long as the director and co agreed to it, they can make and insert a believable story line / excuse for his fake death
"[...] the dynamic between Infinity and her grandmother*"
I like it and I hope the songs Payton sings in the show will be on Apple Music/Spotify
“oh i wish i had river.....”
There's a Khai Zai in Scream Queens also lol
Man I don't know for you guys but I can relate so much with this series I LOVED IT
I just need no more assasination attempts lol. I can't handle anymore
#GiveAstridaGirlfriend
I thought the same thing about Didi being Payton’s mom....hmm we shall see.
the girl said she wasn't voting for Payton so that wouldnt have won him the campaign.
Everyone here is talking about how they wanted Payton and River, but I loved the pragmatism in Payton and Alice's relationship much more.
the only reason I watch - Ben Platt.
So what happened to Peyton’s adoptive mom?
In this world you’re either River or have a River (either met or haven’t yet)
Infinity could fund some of the campaign with her book funds
Is there gonna be a "next season"?
I don’t know why but i ship infinity and payton lol
I REALLY HOPE WE SEE MORE OF RIVER NEXT SEASON!!
Can't wait for season 2
The twins are hot as fuck, there, I said it
I Like The Politician but somehow IDK why I feel like so connected tk Payton
The opportunity to watch another stellar performance from Jessica Lange was the bait but now I’m hooked. She says everything while saying nothing.
Waiting for the season 2.. ❤️
5:47 lol ok
Kaiji was randomly thrown in there. Also no Chinese involved.
Did Tommy Wiseau ghost write this?
is this about what's gonna happen next? i dont what to watch it. all i can say is that i love the first season, lots of surprises and lessons.
I need season 2 already
Good lord this show is based on my hometown
anyone else constantly forget that the main character actual has a name and just refer to him as ben platt i’m your head?
That 28-minute episode was so bizarre tho.
where is season 3?
I kinda liked the first season but why did they have to make the whole River ghost thing. I simply hate when shows do that it's simply ridiculous. I was ok with the idea of having past and present in paralell like in the first episode to see how the two got to that point in their relationship but nope. Their relationship is barely explored but yet we have his "ghost" all the time. I really hope he doesn't return in season 2 despite finding their romantic story incredibly cute and they have a great chemistry together.
My hypothesis? Standish is Payton's biological mother.
This show was great. Reminded me of Veep.
Dude, you literally just broke down The Politician, and gave a theory as to WHAT COULD happen next season.
Ben Platt and Laura? Sign me the fuck up.
Is it possible that Payton has been slowly developing schizophrenia and that's why he's been hallucinating River so vividly. Just a thought
Not the US Senate - NY State Senate.
Season 2 👍🏽
YOU REALLY EXPECT ME TO BELIEVE THESE PEOPLE ARE IN HIGH SCHOOL?!
Neha Kodali I’m talking about how these “teenagers” look 30.
Infinity and her mother....??
I thought the show had so much potential. I was so frustrated and disappointed. I don’t know why I had such expectations for the same man who made Glee.
