    The cows are really cute with their head gears! There's a lot of activities during this festival. And the food! I miss the food there in Austria

      Yes, it was a fun-filled day. Do you miss Sauerkraut and knödel? You must have some Austrian or German roots? 🙂

    That's a great tradition! The hats that the cows have on their heads are really cute! Austria looks like a really lovely country! We would really love to visit it at one point, that's for sure!

    Brilliant! I love that things like this still exist :D Those are some happy cows & the music makes me think of Octoberfest - it's proper drinking music!!

      A Tyrolian festival is not a festival without this music and of course it goes with a beer or two!

    Looks like you had some great weather for the event. There is quite a lot of people there. I like the traditional music playing in the background.

      We were lucky with the weather. Yes, there were a lot of people. Many villages in Tyrol celebrate this festival. This was one of the bigger ones.

    The cows head gear! Amazing :) Love the bells. Great to see some of the crafts like basket weaving still going strong. It looks like a really fun day.

      I agree, it is great to see some of the old trades that still exists however they are mostly practiced by the older generation.

    Awesome video about this incredible festival. So many amazing activities, incredible music, delicious food and drinks. Cattle drive is indeed the highlight of the festival. Funny to see Christmas like decorations on the cows. I guess cow's poop is simply unavoidable. Have not been anywhere in Austria outside of Vienna and would love to visit Tyrol one day.

      It was a fun day with all the different activities. Cow poop was part of the fun too. 🙂 Tyrol is a must see if you ever come back to Austria.

    This is so beautiful! I'm vegan and I absolutely love cows, so this video was really touching to me. These cows are clearly loves and appreciated, and they're dressed up beautifully! I still think cows shouldn't be milked for human consumption, but these cows have amazing lives at least and get to roam free in some of the most beautiful places in the world. Thanks for sharing!

      I know what you mean. I can assure you they are well looked after and they roam free in the mountains during the summer. I am working on a video which will bring tribute to the cows who have crossed our paths on our hikes during 2017. Watch out for it!

    Love the cow with the Christmas tree on its head.Looks difficult to walk around after the cows, not a time or place to wear sandals.

    It's funny one of my recent videos is of a cattle drive too. They do a cattle drive twice a day in the Fort Worth Stockyards. It's a bit different than the one in your video.

    Haha! Switzerland is full of fun things. I'm not really surprised by Cattle Drive though because I'm from India. And I've seen way too many events (or festivals) like this when I visit my village. :)

      This was in Austria not Switzerland. 🙂 Wow, a Cattle Drive video from India will be so interesting. It is amazing to see similarities across continents, countries and cultures.

    Love the mix of the traditional craftsmen and food. I am curious what the differences and similarities are between this almabtrieb is to the alpabfahrt in Switzerland? Was glad to see the bells were relatively small, as I have often wondered at the strain the larger bells would put on the cows' necks.

    • @traveltyrol8467
      @traveltyrol8467  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are quite similar. It is a shared tradition or age old practice in the Alpine region. Some towns may have additional traditions to the festivities such as church services, particular clothes, headdresses etc.

    I've been to Austria once. Would've love to attend this festival. I like all the interactive stuff you can do. the cows with those hats are pretty silly. what dish is that at 3:27?

    • @traveltyrol8467
      @traveltyrol8467  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The dish is Knödel and Sauerkraut. Knödel is like a big dumpling. It is often served with meat or sauerkraut.
