ZERO LOAM RIDE - Emma Long City Park Redemption Ride in Austin Texas

  • One of my very first videos was filmed at the moto trails at City Park over a year ago. I decided to head back and see how things have changed. Spoiler alert: Emma Long is still a humbling experience and probably should be avoided at all costs during the summer. I was pretty bonked by the end. The heat sucked all the energy out of my. By 10:30am it was 100 degrees! Still, any ride is a good ride, and I can definitely tell a drastic difference from last year at this time.

    Nobody understand mountain biking in Texas until they see videos like this!! Love it!

    I want to get my wheels on this stuff!! Reminds me so much of Rockville back home, don't need much elevation to have fun on the rocks.

      BKXC you'll love Texas we have chunk for days. Our chunky blue trails out here are blacks other places, it's what we know how to ride. Elevation is far and few between

      No Front Brakes : always room for improvement for everyone. That’s why we go back and ride the same places to conquer.

    Give yourself more credit. You worked hard through a good bit of that chunk. The heat can be taxing no matter how well you prep. Always a chance to go back and crush it another time.

    Def don't forget the deet at CP in the summer. Learned that the hard way after losing about a quarter pound of flesh out there one time. These days I won't even ride there in the summer. You rode great and there is no shame in feeling bonked even after a single lap there in the midst of this summer heat. Go back in October and I'm sure you'll want to do at least a couple of laps. Those technical climbs just suck the life out of you. The descents are wicked fun though as you demonstrated. Maybe you should do a summer encore with a mid-Aug Lake Georgetown lap!

      Thomas Thrower That sounds brutal! Last time I was out there it was 2 days post rain and I had to bail out after 8 miles because it was a slopfest

    I'm not too far from there and love chunky trails...but I've always worried about getting hit by a moto so idk man🤷‍♂️

    Dont sweat it..I see a lot of you guys on here killing yourselves over NOT being able to ride up things that a 4x4 would have issues with. Im not sure why anyone would think its rideable? Just enjoy the fact you can ride..and enjoy those downhill moments..

    • @nofrontbrakes
      @nofrontbrakes  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do it To it With mikieson good point. I’m stubborn and always striving to better myself. Competing against yourself can still be brutal

      up side is less heat and weight on your back and shoulders. downside is you have to cinch it down more as water is depleted and they dont hold as much water.

    • @josephesparza4280
      @josephesparza4280 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No Front Brakes that's what I'm running, but sometimes I wonder if a 50 would help put a little more weight over the front for the climbs. I know its only a little bit.

    • @nofrontbrakes
      @nofrontbrakes  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My bike shipped with a super short stem, so 35 was already an upgrade. At the same time I put 20mm riser bars on, and knocked out some of the spacers under my stem.
