I have turned off mid-roll ads (these are the ads that pop up in the middle of videos and help earn money for creators)- if you appreciate this and want to financially support my time and effort please consider hitting the “thanks” ❤️ button above.

i actually teach chess for a living, you did a great job. I specifically teach to elementary school kids so your language and phrasing simplified the game and would be very appropriate. (i did feel like i was at work tho lol)

I just want to say thank you for putting out videos! So calming. You’ve also inspired me to keep my own brain sharp - even at 33 I feel like technology and LIFE have left me exhausted and dull. Time to change that!

That’s great! I have found that learning things by looking them up in books and writing notes, etc is a good thing. When I google stuff I just read it and forget it, you know?

Yes! I find I’m constantly reading but not absorbing the material. Great advice!

I started watching ASMR or the whisper community when I went to summer camp when I was a lil kid. The counselors would play chess and I NEVER understood it so I looked up chess tutorials and found a whispering one. I was obsessed with watching chess asmr lol. This just brought me waay back, so thanks!

I know this is kind of a crazy request because it would require you sourcing something you surely don't have, but I would love to hear you explain the rules of Mahjong. My mom used to play it weekly with a group and the only exposure I have is the games you used to see pop up all the time years ago where you just matched Mahjong tiles. I know there is a much more complicated game behind that and I'd love to see you tackle that.

Hmm, I don't know anything about it, but I just did a little research, and it looks interesting. I'll think about this. Thanks for the idea!

Knights and bishop are mostly equal in the game because in closed position and the stat of the game knights are better, bishops are better at open positions and most end games unless the position is closed off due to knight ability to fork. It always recommended knights before bishops at the opening phase.

Btw the rows are called ranks and columns are called files, which is where the phrase “rank and file” comes from

@@Nofrillsasmr actually after googling it seems like I had it backwards - "rank and file" originated from military context and then was applied to chess since the game is often viewed as a battle or analogous to war
