Back in the 90's, "Dwarf Tossing" was extremely popular at many events, especially parties...Little people, essentially sold themselves out and actually made good money doing it, until the authorities banned its practice around the Millennial era.

@@unconcernedcitizen4092 The term "narcissist" comes from Greek mythology (read the story of Narcissus if you don't know it), yet we don't find it politically incorrect to use this term on people who fit the definition, even though what they really need is psychological help and they are nothing like the character of Narcissus.
They're just words, and their meanings/usage evolve with time. There's an infinite amount of things you can consider offensive but it's just not productive/viable to carry on this trail. Case in point, I often see teenagers nowadays calling each other "mentally challenged" instead of "retarded". Did we accomplish anything by making "retarded" a pejorative term? The new term simply became the new reference for insults, it didn't solve anything.

I've read the book and almost everything is true and did happen but not exactly in the same context as far as characters and timeline goes. For example, yes he saved someone from choking to death but it wasn't Danny porush it was a different character in a different situation. Yes, he ripped up his furniture to find drugs but it was because he was a drugged out maniac who couldn't find his crack rock so he ripped up all the furniture in the house to find it, including the carpet

And the point with the midgets... lol in the 80s there was a weekly show called "games people play" which was sent all across the world and in that show, they did even much more with midgets, than just throwing them across the room. And no one forced those midgets to do that.

In 2012 there was actually a midget celebrating his birthday and a stranger tossed him and now the wee guy's in a wheelchair. Just the thought of being responsible for permanently crippling a midget would be enough for me.

100% true, I've read both books and I'd highly recommend them if you liked the movie, so many things and events not being shown in the movie is present in the books and they're way more personal too.

Just to clarify he said the midget throwing wasn't true because of the interviewer's negative thoughts on it, in another interview he said it was true

I also read one of his interviews where he says the midget throwing did happen except that he was not there. I guess this douchebag hasn't changed one bit.

BasketballStud99 He didn't decline that it happened... he said it happened after he left the firm, hence why he said it was fictional in the movie (he's still at the firm in the movie) and hence why he said he's not proud of it. Not defending him as a person, just saying he wasn't lying here.

At the very beginning in the middle age, stock markets were founded to bring inventors and capital owners together, just nowadays a so called business-angel or a venture capital does. In my opinion Stratton Oakmont did nothing but what the stock market actually is made for. Those who really cause harm to the economy, are those on the stock market trading with fonds and the stocks of big companies, that have nothing new, but using their might on the market to defeat little companies with new ideas or those trading with forex or the like. Just because he sold ping-sheets to normal people, doesn't make him a criminal. I think Jordan Belfort did a big mistake not to have any competent lawyers to protect their company and to find out legal ways to achieve their goals. Actually why noone talks about ping-sheet-companies that became successful after they were supported by Stratton Oakmont?! And why no one has ever verified if their sold ping-sheets were more lossy than those, which they didn't offer to the ping-sheet-investors?! I'm sure, that they were even more successfull. It is said, that he caused something about 200 Million $ of loss for the investors, but why don't you talk about the madden-shoes company, which is only one of the companies, that they brought on market, which is more than 5 times of value, namely more than 1 billion $. So talking about being hooked by Stratton Oakmont is a nonsense, in my opinion. And there's always risk on the stock market and everybody knows this. There's even risk, if you put your money just on your bank account. So why accusing them because of the risk, which is given for the ping-sheets?! It isn't illegal to trade with ping-sheets, is it?! Did ALL the investors lose ALL their money?! By the way, if the FBI had something against them, they would have walked in like in Grenada, without asking and without meeting, but they couldn't, because they were more like vietnam, therefore, they arranged a meeting with Mr. Belfort. And I ask myself how the officer got that yellow piece of paper warning Danny, if not Danny himself gave it to him?! And why Danny wasn't arrested... and why Danny didn't just arrange a programmer to delete all those files, instead of deleting them by hand, one by one?! And why didn't he delete all other evidences to protect Jordan and all others in the company, while Jordan was in trial detention?! There are still a lot of questions about Dannys strange behaviour... however... there's always two sides of every story.... remember that.
