Just an explanation of the parade you saw in Brooklyn. That's the annual Caribbean Parade celebrating Caribbean culture through dance and music. As seen in the clip there's steel pan playing and bands that would parade in costumes. There are a number of other events that lead up to the day of the parade, parties and other more culture specific events such as calypso tents and jouvert. Since it seems like Ben lives in or around Crown Heights which has a vibrant Caribbean culture, you guys should attend some events next year.
