Am I correct that the songwriter and composer are both just songwriters? I am asking this because when I recently contacted a producer about doing some tracks, he brought this up. I have a number of songs written with Melodies and Arrangements in mind already. The producer I contacted said he would be listed as the composer. As I will be paying him, I have no intention of giving him half ownership of any of my songs, as he is coming to each song at a huge advantage of having the framework already in place. If I am understanding this and some of your other videos correctly, we need to use the split sheets to clarify our *overall* split agreements, and those need to also be confirmed with the copyrights?
This is the best breakdown on TH-cam!!!
Needed this in my life. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this. I needed to know how to copyright a song as the writer. You are great!
Happy to help!
If you pay out the producer as a work for hire do they still get royalties?
Thank You Fro Your Knowledge Brother✊🏾
Thanks for the breakdown brother. Should a producer who is also a writer/performer on a song submit both an SR & PA?
SR is fine if you did both
Great video man! I love how you make it so simple to understand.
So when copywriting a song should I do both the PA and the SR registration?
Believe it or not, past tense is copyrighted. I know its not proper English. Great channel, subbed

Your both songwriters, and he is entitled to his contribution +/- what you negotiate. Yes do a splitsheet
Composer is the person who make the beat and if said person didn't contribute to the writing of the lyrics they should never get credit for writing.
New subscriber here. I just discovered this channel today. Great information.
hey Man I created a youtube channel for my music so I make music instrumental music with my keyboard so my side is SR right?
So if you create the beats and the lyrics do you do both or just the sound recording and include the music and lyrics?
The sound recording only. It will automatically include a PA
Number 2
What if you are giving your music away for free should you still copyright it?
