Very good talk! Thank you very much! When you speak about the Billie Eilish aesthetic, it is really the Billie and Finneas aesthetic! In this partnership Billie comes more and more to the fore and Finneas supports her in whichever way possible. Quite a few people have speculated about Billie working with another producer but, why?( not saying it wouldn't be interesting) Billie Eilish is a Band, carried in equal parts by Billie and Finneas. They organically go where ever they wish to go!
Agreed, it's a crazy wish for anyone that appreciates how great Billie Eilish music is. Like, hey, the Beatles are great but they've put out three albums. They should break up and see what they can do apart! Who would have wished for that? Makes no sense. I think it comes from some incorrect ideas about what a producer is. Billie is the singer, and she's a great one. But that is not what Billie Eilish music is about. That's just signing. Everything you hear are the compositions of two people, Billie & Finneas. He's not just turning buttons and adding sound effects.
@@odellmI agree with “it’s like asking the Beatles to split up to see what else they could do individually”. But I would posit that when Billie does collaborations, that’s when she is branching out. Finneas already also does his own music and works as a producer with so so many people in the industry. I also saw earlier today that she has really random writing credits on songs by other artists - she isn’t featured or anything, she probably just contributed to friends music while jamming out. A true musician, with music always on her mind, basically.
You describing Happier than Ever as precocious is fascinating. I think that Billie would probably really agree with that assessment, based on a lot of the interviews she has done lately. She said something really interesting regarding age, how she wasn’t able to experience her teenage years so on the one hand she was, as you said, precocious, but on the other hand she will “forever be a teenager” in her own words, because she feels like she needs to make up for what she missed.
i know. geoff called me out on the podcast. you can't imagine how mortifying that is because i was SO SURE he was the one who's wrong and thank GOD i didn't vocalize it and look like an even bigger dweeb.
I was wondering why you kept saying that the album is 37 minutes long when it’s 43:50 minutes long but I think I know now. You probably removed the one song you like a little less, that would bring it to that number. 😅

see, that's why billie's the best. wise, candid, and compelling.
So funny that you mentioned Charlie xcx and how she stays in her lane and stuff and now they’ve got a song out together 😆
So, a couple of months later, how do you guys feel about the songs? Which ones have solidified as your favourites/ standout “singles”?
Hey it's a phone number not a license plate.
