Our group of 45 plus people went on a day outing to Dhatri Vana Village Resort near Tumkur, which turned out to be a wonderful and pleasant experience. It is an authentic village farmhouse that has been passed down through many generations to the present owner Mr. Ravi. Mr. Ravi and his wife Ms. Sudha did an excellent job with their hospitality endeavours leaving us with a feeling of well looked after. They have a strong belief in the Sanskrit quote ‘Atithi Devo Bhava,’ which means ‘the guest is equivalent to God.’ While Mr. Ravi kept us entertained with group games, Ms. Sudha took care of the kitchen department with her team of simple and friendly village staff who served awesome desi food served with loads and loads of ghee; I have never eaten so much ghee in my life! What leaves one impressed, other than the rustic rural setting of the farmhouse, is the kind of welcome they give when you arrive and also Mr. Ravi’s excellent command of the Kannada language by which he gives a detailed explanation of the menu for the day and the ingredients used in the dishes. When you are in Dhatri Vana, you will be taken through a journey of nostalgic memories of the time at your grandma /grandpa’s village home; one example would be like playing a game with shells instead of our modern-day dice. You will be able to see all these rural vibes in this video.
