I own a 91 explorer and love it. But, this one featured, is nothing but trouble. RUST. If you can find one rust free and a strong motor, all the other parts are super cheap and all over the junk yards. The motor in these were built in Cologne, Germany and built by mercedes. The motor is called the Cologne 4.0. I have 206,000 miles on my motor and it hasn't lost compression and never fails. Fun and easy project car for anyone. With the back seats down, a Full size airmatress fits perfect and sleeps 2 comfortably. 4x4 stealth car camping vehicle that's easy to work on, parts are cheap and is super reliable. Broncos are overrated. Sorry.

Ohhh so that explains how we started my grandpa's '93 Explorer after it was sitting for two years. After a battery charge it started right up.

Built by Mercedes??? That's nonsence.. It's 200% Ford but yes.. It's originally a EU motor, which later came to the US

And the water pump. Replace it around 200k and that motor is good to go for a long time!

The best thing to do if you plan on keeping yours buy a spare for parts. It will pay for its self if you can own a ford ranger and a ford explorer you will have the same parts just make sure you have the 4.0 in your ranger 1990--94

Excellent car, simple, reliable, unpretentious. At me too such, but 1991 of release with a mechanical transmission. Once upon a time, in millenium he came to Russia.

You gotto love the car dealers that are to cheap to top up the AC refrigerant. So in other words the AC does not work and the dealer is to cheap to fix it. This is probably a POS unit and the dealer is was asking top dollar.
