That kind of music is just great! Black Metal arrived in the US very late, but there are a lot of creative bands out there like Curta'n Wall pushing...Ok, Folk Black Metal is not new, but I have never heared music like that. Unique Style and nice development by that band! To add male and female clean vocals and folk Instruments was a nice idea. Please more!!! Greets from good old Germany!
I wouldn't even class this in the same bracket as "folk metal" at all. Like you say, it is completely unique in its approach and as such really can't be compared to anything lol
I loved listening to Crocodile Moat!!!!!!!. "Siege Ubsessed" now is a little more complex, leaves more time for interludes, but still remains raw and super catchy. Adding a female vocalist is always a gamble in my opinion (in terms of changing the character of the band), but in this case it worked brilliantly. The variety of instruments, the harmonies and the multifaceted nature of the compositions make this an exceptionally good album for me. 👍
I don't think it remains raw at all, far from it. What separates this from other Curta'n Wall stuff is that this is really well produced and thought out. Almost as if this is the culmination of what he wanted from Curta'n Wall all along

I wanted to check if there were actually Moats with Crocodiles in them and found that theres a Castle with a Bear Moat Addendum: Fuck I cant stop listening to Fear of God. I can listen to that song for hours on repeat
For anyone looking for another album with similar sound (medieval folk instruments, black metal-inspired vocals and drums) I recommend Grylle - Les Grandes Compagnies
This is good, i'll make some weird references, some songs remind me of a medieval Black Magick SS without the nazis, the female vocals remind me of S3RL's melodic songs only with dungeon synth backing instead of techno. Other parts are like Old Nick songs that were recorded in the same room instead of a room away through a toaster.
