I am too lazy to spell his name, but the resurrected colonel dude guessed right away that Loak was Jake's son based on their similarities. I personally feel they aren't exactly the same. Loak has a lot of similarities to Jake's personality, but he has totally different motivations and world view. In my humble opinion anyways. For example, I would argue that Loak poses a lot more empathy than Jake does.

just because he had a legitimate reason to be upset doesn't mean he had to be such a condescending and loathing parent towards primarily Lo'ak; which made him feel like a disappointment and an outcast. he could have handled himself better, I give his parenting towards Lo'ak 3/10.

@@Divi333. one must understand their situation to understand the behavior. jake has his sons on the front lines meaning they are in constant danger. what loak did was deliberately disobedient and it almost got them and their team killed. I think the 4th movie will show his change, the Tulkun Rider is probably Lo’ak. And I can’t see Lo’ak in the character list of the 3rd one (I only see the list in Wikipedia, maybe it’s not true). So he may not be the main character in the 3rd one, and his change may not be shown in this movie. But in fact, I think Lo’ak will still have an impulsive mind, but he must be much more mature and calm than in this movie, because he remorses that he causes the death of his brother

I honestly don't know how to feel about Jake's parenting. We can clearly see that before the humans came back he was a super loving and caring father, Lo'ak and Neteyam didn't feel so on edge or such a degree to be absolutely perfect; then the humans came and he became much more of an authoritarian parent with harsh training/punishments and held his sons to a very high standard.
I understand why he did this, they were now living at war with the humans, so any miscommunication or goofing off could result in one of them, or the entire tribe dying. I just wish he still showed his son's that he was proud of how far they've come, because I honestly think that Neteyam didn't understand how much his dad really loved him, and I think Lo'ak will always have that fear lurking in the back of his mind that his father view's him as a disappointment.

What was even more annoying was that nothing aside from Lo’aks comments really suggested that Neteyam was the supposed golden child. We’re to assume that he learned the ways of the Omaticaya quicker than the average kid, and that Lo’ak was a bit slower in learning, but the two have a regular sibling relationship, and Jake and Neytiri only seem to be mad at Lo’ak when he gets people in danger because of his impulsive nature (Jake and Neytiri do execute this so poorly that I do understand that it makes Lo’ak think that he’s just a disappointment altogether because of who he is).

I feel like Jake was too hard on Lo’ak, and I think the next film Jake will try to be less hard on him as he will realize he was wrong about him.

@@karisworldgaming4832 Amazing. Everything you said was wrong. Lo'ak literally did nothing to help himself, sure the part where he got left alone out in the ocean wasn't his fault but he did get himself and his siblings into constant trouble. IN A WAR... Did you forget that important bit of information?
Jake wasn't abusive, it's called tough love.

@@karisworldgaming4832 shut up at least he wasn’t getting whoopings! jake was like that way for a reason and at the end loak was still alive, stand up it wasn’t abuse at all. jake was carrying everything on his shoulders including loak badness, that’s abuse.
