    Very informative, top marks. One note, on my Android file transfer, the file menu appears on insertion with no permission re-do (thus perhaps something buggy on yours or a Sammy issue?) Have gone back/forth using iPhone/Samsung for filming (just YT, nothing commercial) and have had best results with Vivo X50 Pro. Vivo's 'X' series has a gimbal built-in and is quite good, also in low light tops even iPhone 13. Will happily upgrade to X80 Pro when it launches this summer.

For me it is a winning feature that kills the android until they will reveal somthing similar. And the echo system S you mentioned puts android option irrelevant

    Samsung at 'not exactly 30fps' actually at 29.96 looks suspiciously like NTSC (≈29.97).
    Apple SOC, in addition to being fast, have dedicated video encoding circuitry. Maybe the Samsung chips do too but Apple is ahead.

    Thanks so much for the informative content. I've recently discovered your channel and have been watching it a lot. You have helped educate me on how to best use my S20FE :)
    I have one rather specific question and can't find the answer anywhere else. Hoping you could clarify, if you have the time. I have heard some say that prior to editing phone footage, it should first be converted to a ProRes format, for example, by using the HQ422 preset in Adobe Media Encoder. That will help from losing any data while editing an already lossy video format. How accurate is this in your opinion? And specifically, do i need to do this if I plan to shoot HDR10 with my S20FE and edit in Resolve?
    Kind thanks!

    • @SiHorrocks
      @SiHorrocks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've never done that. The reason I remember people used to do that was to fix the variable frame rate problem. You can't add quality by converting and as long as you use a high bitrate (and 4K) at every step you shouldn't notice any big quality difference

    Absolutely agree with your very honest comparison 👏
    Every single person who ever used these devices must agree on it.
    Iphone 12,s exposure SUCKs even though in auto mode when camera got a quick move from sky to landscape while driving or a panoramic shot
    Samsung,s High end devices lacking behind on battery issues while filming 4k @60 fps..device got terribly hot within 50 minutes whereas iPhone 12 doesn't have that much issue
    We can capture 50 different frames having pauses while filming and at the ends it's one clip
    But iphone produce 50 clips for 50 different frames..
    You definitely notice that how often I movie got held while working on 4k HDR videos

    Good video but you only briefly touched on Android not working well with 3rd party apps - which includes software gimbals use to communicate with the camera. This is a huge problem and is the reason I'm reluctantly planning to switch to iPhone: "Here's the real reason third-party camera apps are so bad on Android" -- and this includes all apps that utilize the cameras including IG and Snapchat, Gimbals, FilmicPro etc. In general, the entire smartphone ecosystem has given up on android (not just Samsung).
