    Hey Chris - This is one of my favorite videos on you tube. I've been working with driftwood for about 25 years on and off and have built all kinds of things with it. Now I mostly build picture frames. I never really thought about shooting a video until I saw this one. I shot my first video about 3 months ago after watching this with my Dad and wanted to let you know that this video helped inspire me to get started. I'm a power tool user and think its awesome that you only use hand tools but mostly what I'm inspired about is your approach to woodworking and your style of making videos. Great job on the chair!

    Well done Chris, this looks like the wood version of the game of thrones iron throne. All you need now is a cup holder and some foam to make it more comfortable and you are good to go :).

    This has to be the coolest chair I have ever seen. Definitely reminds me of the Iron Throne from Game Of Thrones. I loved how you used non electrical equipment. I've done a few decorative frames from pallet wood but nothing like this. Inspired.

      Welcome to my channel! I never more than whittles a stick until about 10 years ago at which time I watched a video about Dick Proenneke and I’ve never been the same since. I’ve learning by doing, making mistakes, and doing some more. I collect nearly all my tools at flea markets and auctions. I have made a couple of videos on tool and wood collection. Check them out.     You're in Cincinnati area, I take it? I am up near Columbus, but we regularly get down to the Parkersburg, WV area. I have seen driftwood along the Ohio River during walks, and considered using it for some project. Cool to see you went beyond just considering.

    Hey Chris, since you're using large logs stored out in the weather, can you make a video on the quality of wood, how you select and inspect for flaws, and how best to dry it to minimise cracking?
    I have some beutiful white oak between 3&5 foot 12 inch thick, that has been dead for years, harvested this passed spring, with very few flaws. Just want to know your thoughts if possible.

      +nunya bisnass I'll add it to the list but until then here is what to do: leave the bark on. Get the wood off the ground, and coat the ends and any exposed wood with Anchorseal.

    Great build but why did you make so many square mortises, things in nature are not square but round and they still work to hold things together. You are lucky to be able to find so much driftwood, it makes a beautiful chair.

    That's some great stuff, many years ago I sat in some big redwood chairs like that and they were the most comfortable chairs ever.
