  • Went to our new DUMP! Must see What I found!
We FINALLY were able to get back to the dump for a dump haul! We sorted through the landfill room and found trash to could turn into treasure. I found an antique furniture piece!

The dumps here in New Zealand have the “Reuse Shops”. Any crockery, jars, paint and furniture, toys, clothes - anything that is reusable gets dropped off and they sort it, if it’s damaged they won’t take it and you dump them. You can get some real bargains, not free like your one. Some are a bit expensive but it certainly saves so much “stuff “ being dumped.

I love that you’re doing this video I miss watching you make something beautiful from something that’s trash to someone else . That’s a great idea that everything isn’t just piled up in mounds of trash and they’ve separated it so that someone can take something from it instead of just throwing it all together . If only everyone did that it would save so much of our planet .

The ideal time to plant your trees and perennials is actually when they're dormant! So, your timing is great. You can wait until they drop leaves, and you'll significantly reduce the amount of transplant shock they experience.
So excited for the future homestead!!

Oh Wow! Fresh eggs, the dump, lumber yard, and garden center all wrapped up into one video! Excited to see all of it! I was so hoping you would get blueberries! I planted my first one this year along with quite a few raspberries and blackberries! You should look into a garden stalk! They are amazing for planting alot of plants in a small area! Got my first one this year, and hoping to get another just for my everbearing strawberries! It would look great on your deck! When you go to plant the trees, keep in mind how big they will get and deer love that fresh fruit, and they will eat it all even before it's ripe! Can't wait to see your kitchen cabinets!

My husband (72) and his brother.(80) used to listen to the Braves baseball games on their family radio. It was a big deal to own one back then as they weren’t from a wealthy family and with no television, it was their entertainment. The radio still works and provides us with fun nostalgic entertainment. Would be fun to find someone who could restore that radio. ❤️❤️❤️

Our dumps are gated and manned with staff with huge skips for every different thing and we are not allowed to take things away 😢😢 we would have to ask permission from the managers at the site and they dint always say yes which is tragic when you see something incredible.

That vanity would be great for you B&B home too. I am excited for you to have the greenhouse. I want to build one next spring. Lol along with the chicken house and small barn. Lol big year for me starting next spring. Raspberries multiply quickly. You will have a full grove of plants next year. So plan a row area to allow for multiplying. The first time I put in the beds I did not plan on the rapid expansion and had to dig a new area for them. I ended up with 7 50 ft rows the first and second year. After that I potted the new growth and sold them for $2.50 each. I did the same thing with my strawberry plants. I even sold them to a local hardware store that had a garden center. The excess berries were purchased by a local restaurant for pies etc. Lol before we knew it we had a truck farm. I had an herb garden that was prolific, so bagged up the herbs In cute packaging and the local grocery store purchased them.

I live in Ohio, and they pick trash up at curb where it gets compacted. They dump the load at the landfill.

It's so nice to see that there are still dumps out there that let you rescue items from the landfill, that just make sense. I saw that you bought fruit trees and some bushes, that is fantastic, so excited for you to have fresh fruit right off of your own trees there is nothing like it. Have you tried Haskap or honey berries? They are similar to blue berries and will grow pretty much anywhere, if you can get your hands on them you should give them a try as well. Enjoy the fruits of your labor. Happy planting. Thanks again for the amazing content that you both put out for us! Coni

Hi from Sweden "English" Family! 🇸🇪
Just wasn't to tell you that there are apricot vareities that would work very well where you are located... In Sweden with its nordic cold conditions, we have a variety called 'Frost' that works very well planted outdoors in the open ground. And it tastes well.
I live on the Swedish west coast and here I have many neighbours that grow them..... Me, I live in an apartment and would probably be able to grow that variety in a big pot! So do some searching and you will certainly find a very hardy variety for your conditions.💖👍🏻

Can't wait for all of them! That dump is absolutely amazing! So happy you found it & no punishment or restrictions on it! Being able to build what you want to without restrictions is amazing also! I can't imagine being told what you can build or how much you can build! We live in the US, Missouri, out in the country & there are no restrictions! I suppose in some bigger cities there is. But small towns have no zoning laws or any of that.
It's great to see you getting back to your original roots & recycling things! The vanity would make a cool vanity for the zinc in the bathroom at little blue or somewhere in your home, with a little restructuring added to make it work! If anyone is capable of that it would be you guys.
I feel a garage make over may be in the works for all the projects. Since winter is getting closer & closer. Working outside will most likely come to a screeching hault if there is no where to get out of the winter weather. Maybe the garage is allready suitable, I can't remember seeing it in past videos.
I only mention it, because we are fast approaching the colder mths. & working on many projects ourselves that we are kinda worried about accomplishing in the colder mths. We have a very nice Shop, but no source of wood heat that we have got around to setting up yet. Hoping to get it in before winter hits.
You guys are amazing! Resources are finally coming around for you, that should be of great help with all you are capable of if you have the things you need to work with!
Can hardly wait to see those kitchen cabinets!

My local dump does the same thing, but they SELL the items for nominal amounts. This revenue stream helps keep the costs of dumping to a minimum. So excited for your dump picking videos again. They were the ones that got me into your channel. I can't believe that raised garden beds were considered a "structure" under your yard usage limitations back in Ontario. Elevated or not, they're still just a garden.

I'm excited to eatch your orchard come to fruition but I'm more excited about the kitchen. I am amazed you have coped without one for 6 months. It will be fabulous. We have a revycling place down the road from us but we can't take anything. We used to be able to but not anymore. We have lots of recycling done in charity shops. They are full of donated furniture and all proceeds go to whichever charity the shop is for. There is the British heart foundation.....many different Hospices....the Childrens society and many more. Of course we are in Manchester England. Whatever you do then i know it will be fabulous. XX

Looking forward to your projects in your new garden! I’m in 6a in Michigan & my peach tree did amazing! So, go for it. I also have the arctic kiwi vine.(which should have a male and female vine to produce the fruit) I would suggest you make a very large trellis for it to grow on. Because it loves to be in the sun and grows at least 35 feet long. (I have to prune mine all summer because I didn’t realize how big they got) out of all the years I’ve had the vine it has only produced Kiwi ‘s once that were edible. (I hope you have better success). When building your greenhouse. Make sure the northside/roof and all around the bottom edges are insulated and have siding. It will help you keep it warm during the cold nights. We heat ours with a woodstove but I would suggest you get a larger one to keep it going during the night. Mine only lasts for about three hours of heating. We use solar fans to cool it in the summer. And utilized old windows.
For your fruit trees I would suggest that you protect them with metal fencing from the deer. (Cattle panel on a roll & t-posts.) wrap the trunk of the tree from rabbits gurgling (chewing) it during the winter. PS. Do some research on bone sauce. This is not a barbecue sauce 😉but a process of cooking down bones that deter dear for 10 years. It’s interesting…
