    In this video I take a close look at two Huepar Laser Levels, one at the more entry level of the market and one of their top of the range models to see if it is worth the extra money? For transparency the BO2CG model is my own (bought and paid for myself) and the SO4CG/CR has been supplied to me by Huepar for purposes of review. I do have an affiliated link below so if you click on that and purchase any Huepar product via the link then the channel will earn small commission.
    As ever, thank you so much for your continued support in my disability woodworking adventures. Please consider giving the video a thumbs up and maybe even subscribing to the channel. Best Wishes, Leo

    Sometimes you just long for something even though you know you shouldn't. I have an entry level that I manage with but the bright adjustable is definitely tempting. Great review.

    I was going to buy a Huepar laser level last year, but ended up not picking one up. I did buy the S04CG like in your video a couple months ago for a project. Works great and no issues. I used a 15% code so it seemed like a fair deal. I'm sure I could have gone with a little lesser cost Huepar and been equally happy. The s04cg had a good overall accessories package, and also offered the 3 power options that appealed to me. The micro adjustment multi mount is great and I'm happy it was included.

    Thanks for perfectly informative comparative review. I am buying advanced kit straight away.
    It will be my second Huepar: My first was their compact model Box-1G cross-line laser. I am a professional finish carpenter, and I bought Box 1-G to replace my ultra-compact PLS2, which gave decades of excellent service before finally dying (of old age.) What I loved about PLS2 was its form factor and carry pouch, but PLS2 is sadly no longer in production, nor has PLS followed up with a similarly compact model. I have found Box 1-G to be an excellent and superior replacement, and I carry it when needed on my toolbelt in a Diamondback GK1 clip-on pouch.
    Aside from the multiple 360 degree orthogonal lines of the Huepar advanced model, I am buying it specifically to have use of the micro-adjustable mounting bracket. Just as you report, this accessory is indispensable, especially for plumb lines. FYI, I have discovered that Huepar offers this bracket separately on their website and for a very modest price, ~$40 USD as of May 2023.
    I do not believe Huepar products can match the durability of my other lasers by Stabila (IP65 and built like a tank) but for a careful independent craftsman like myself, working solo, Huepar offers completely comparable functionality at a fraction of the cost. I believe the value cannot be matched.
    As for the second horizontal line, I too had no idea what use it could be at first. I now see that its functionality is for projecting lines very close to a floor or other support surface, e.g., for a short baseboard. Because the auto-leveling is achieved by pendulum, the first horizontal laser of most standard tools cannot be projected that low.
    Thanks again for your in-depth presentation.

    Thanks Leo, interesting to see the differences between the different models, especially the sharpness and brightness of the laser on the more premium model.
    I had a laser level I bought years ago and it was pretty much useless, very hard to see the red laser and it was a nightmare to get level (no self levelling). Lasers have come on a long way since then. Off the strength of your original laser video I eventually bought a 4-line laser from Banggood which I have been very pleased with. It has a remote control and the ‘car Jack’ lift like the premium Huepar, but not the micro adjuster which does look like a great feature. So far I have only used the laser for getting sockets and roof battens level in my shed so everything’s been done with the laser on a tripod (which I salvaged from my old laser!). The car jack unfortunately doesn’t have a screw thread on it so you can’t use it with a tripod. Biggest problem I found was doing fine adjustments of the laser position so that micro adjuster may be what I need.

      @Hand-i-Craft  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Geoffrey, I agree the comparison between the quality of the laser sharpness was quite striking tbh. Never thought there was anything wrong with the old one then you put the more expensive one next to it and it’s incredible the difference 👍

  • @Tephnos
    @Tephnos 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    The best thing about it for me is the remote. If I'm working on something and don't get it done in a single day, the simple act of switching the thing on and off is going to likely move the line slightly, messing things up. A remote to switch the lasers on means it can stay put for a number of days while you crack on.

    • @Hand-i-Craft

      Thanks for the message. It’s difficult to advise on outdoor work in regards to whether you’d be able to see the laser line, mainly due to the conditions you’re working in. However Huepar do a range of laser receivers that detect the laser line for you in outdoor conditions. One thing I noticed immediately was the width of the lines. I read a review from a tile setter that did not like the wide lines when setting fine grout lines.
    I'm not sure if that's a big deal or not because you can measure to the top, bottom for the center of the line.

    • @Hand-i-Craft
      @Hand-i-Craft  ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting you say this as a few folk have pointed this out. Don’t see it as an issue personally as long as you’re referencing off the same point of the line (ie: the top). I’d rather have a really clear line that’s a bit thicker than a thinner line that has that ‘haze’ on both sides 👍

    • @randywl8925
      @randywl8925 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Hand-i-Craft well I guess so, as long as the thick line doesn't have Haze on both sides too. 😁
      I've yet to see someone do a review of a bunch of these lasers and specifically talk about which one has the sharpest line. That alone would be a good topic.
      Thanks for doing your review.

    • @davefarmery8180
      @davefarmery8180 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm a tiler and i reference off the edge of the lazer top bottom left or right , even the top brand lasers are 2mm thick so referencing off the middle of the beams isn't as accurate

      @@davefarmery8180 I went ahead and purchased a Huepar 603CG 3D
      Seeing the beam width in person is different than perception. My vision before owning one was thinking that a 1/16" width would be easier and more accurate to measure with.
      Now I understand beam width isn't all that important. It fow clear the edges of the line are.
      So far, with a few trials, I'm impressed with my Huepar. I'd definitely recommend it.
      Three power sources can be used. Corded, rechargeable or 4AA's. Not all lazers have all 3 options.

    Just received the premium one. Well,the ideas of those accessories are great,but the quality can be better. However, the biggest downside would be the uneven beams, especially the vertical ones. The lower the brighter, and weaker as it goes up. Come on, what’s the point to use a laser when you don’t get accuracy. Definitely for returning.

    • @Hand-i-Craft
      @Hand-i-Craft  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry to hear about this Wayne, sounds like the unit might be damaged in some way. Not had that problem myself, but understand when something like that does happen it completely puts you off the product / brand. • @katabrontes
      @katabrontes ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Hand-i-Craft Certainly safer Leo. I find I can do most things with my bandsaw and tracksaw. If I had a 3M track and parallel guides maybe even more with the tracksaw. The only problem I have had is resawaing very long timber with the bandsaw as it's much higher than anything else so I have to balance the ends on rollers. It does wander a little on a long cut but I sort that out on the planer tracksaw after allowing a bit extra thickness on the first cut. Certainly not scary. Mike

    From a further distance, adjusting a laser without the micro adjustment can almost be a nightmare. At 20+ feet when you move your laser, even a 1/16”(1.5mm-2mm) it is exaggerated greatly over a distance of 20 feet.

    I'm buying my first 3D laser level. In my research I narrowed it down in my price tag to two models one with horizontal beam on top of housing and other with horizontal beam on the bottom of the housing. Bottom one has little better features but im bit sceptic about location of that beam and top beam somehow make little more sens for me even tho i have no expirance with 3D levels. Any thoughts and advice ? I'm just a diyer will use it in around the house renovating projects, maybe a drop ceiling in the future.

    • @Hand-i-Craft
      @Hand-i-Craft  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers for the message pal and sorry for the late reply. I guess the line closer to the bottom of the housing is more suited to floor levelling work and above to the likes of skirting boards / tiling etc🤷‍♂️. I’m only guessing mate as I don’t do a lot of either. If you’re just doing some diy stuff and it for the likes of shelving / frames / etc just look for a laser that has a nice clear line, one horizontal, one vertical and that’ll do you. All the rest of the stuff is great, but like I said in the video, it’s optional extras. If you find in the future you need that extra stuff then you can look to replace your original laser and sell it / gift it to someone starting out. At least with the basic one you’ve got everything you’ll need for the foreseeable future and not spending a fortune👍👍
