Loved E Nesbit as a kid (loooong time ago!). She was the first - children's writer to have magic intertwined with everyday life, and to have realistic child characters, free from sentimentality. She also pretty much invented the "grumpy" magical character, in the Psammead. Good to see her books still being read and enjoyed. Maybe those adults who do not enjoy children's books are just not old enough ;-)
