As in the first part of the series, in Age of Civilizations II the game takes place on the political map of the world, where each country was divided into small provinces. During the game, players follow the fate of all humanity, affecting its history in subsequent eras. To subjugate the remaining civilizations, we must not only issue as many army as possible and conquer further territories with diverse topography of the area, but also defend already possessed provinces (with the help of the army or defensive structures erected within them) and take care of the economic and industrial base of its gradually growing empire. An important role is also played by diplomacy - we can declare war on other nations or contain more or less permanent covenants with them (names given to alliances are chosen randomly by the game). The fact is complicated by the fact that if we have a leg, we not only become an easier target to attack from outside, but also increase the risk of a revolution in our country.
