    Been buying Moloco cars for years! Always top notch. I didn't see the TO&E in the new waffles. Bought 3. A favorite scheme and RR

      Nice! Good to know, seems like a good manufacturer from what I can tell, just no personal experience myself yet

    Dude intermountain needs to start keeping at least the year right on their delivery dates, some things have been in pre production for 9 years 😅

    • @da-joe-trains
      @da-joe-trains  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      I can understand delays happen, I know they lost some tooling, but with delays like that, some modelers might be completely out of the hobby by the time the models deliver!

    • @avlisk
      @avlisk 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I used to buy a lot of Australian HO trains, and waiting several years after paying for a model "due 3rd quarter of this year" was quite common. I think the longest wait I had was for a pair of GM class locos from TrainORama that took only 6 or 7 years. 9 years must be a record! Part of the problem was the Sanda Kan factory closed and several companies had to move their manufacturing to other facilities. Quality also took a dive when this happened. That was about a 10 years ago.

    • @da-joe-trains
      @da-joe-trains  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Like you mentioned, there's usually some outstanding circumstances that cause delays, which is totally reasonable like a factory closing. Just a rough boat for us to be in while we wait potentially years for just an update

    • @prodjustinn
      @prodjustinn 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Its bc of covid they lost most everyone in their factories (USA Factories), and they projects they set out for was supposed to deliver that year but they kept on falling behind and behind. Also they lost some of their tooling and had to retool some locos iirc (correct me if I'm wrong).

    • @da-joe-trains
      @da-joe-trains  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yep, that's along the same lines of what I understand. Unfortunate for both us and them and I really do hope they recover and are able to eventually deliver everything

    Lots of cool stuff, especially those Scaletrains SD40-2s! Super excited to get my Rapido C30-7 in BN colors too, unfortunately it may be a long time before I even see it as I've been put on a borrow out job indefinitely!

      @da-joe-trains well, I ordered it through Trainworld (this was long before I found out about Iron Planet Hobbies), but the good news is I told my brother to be on the lookout for any packages that might show up, so it'll be at his house whenever I get back! It's no big deal, just life on the Railroad, gotta go where the money is sometimes!

    Moloco has been around for years and their products are very high quality. They are similar to Tangent, Athearn Genesis, and ScaleTrains Rivet Counter lines (except for the rotating bearing caps). Each road number on the same car series can have different lettering and placement per the prototype.

    • @da-joe-trains
      @da-joe-trains  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Awesome! I'm not sure how I hadn't even heard of them before, nice to have more high quality options in the market. Rotating bearing caps for me aren't a deal breaker on rolling stock but for others it may be

    When your showing the complete list of the run , please pause as I couldn't see the companies and the group photo didn't show them very well. Thank you, I enjoy your showing the items for aale!

    Anything on Division Point; Piko; Rivarossi; Atlas; Tangent; Huron South Detroit Model R.R. Comp.; Northbound Model Works; Bluford Shops or Fox Valley...to name a few?

    • @da-joe-trains
      @da-joe-trains  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I haven't seen anything, that's why there is no mention! Lots of Atlas info in last week's video, heads up. Also, Fox Valley doesn't exist on its own and would be part of the ScaleTrains newsletter covered.
      Division Point is way out of most people's price range (mine for sure) so I may just make quick mention when I do see things from them

    What years was the BN SD40-2B unit painted in that scheme?

    • @da-joe-trains
      @da-joe-trains  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      If information online is correct, it seems like it got this newer BN scheme between mid-1994 and the start of 1996

    • @trainjack16
      @trainjack16 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Would it fit for 1994 to 1995 or not? I am asking because I’m trying to model a BN freight train between 1994 and 1995.

    • @da-joe-trains
      @da-joe-trains  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I'd think so, especially if you get one or more of the BN white face in this run. Totally up to you, I don't model a specific era so being off by a year or 2 wouldn't be a big deal to me

      Similar sentiments here, was browsing their site and there's so many models with release dates years ago with no updates. Shame really, I only have 1 ES44 from them but I'd consider getting more if they were consistent with release timing

      I have one BNSF ET44C4, it's a very nice looking model, but it has an issue here and there, most notably the center axle on the front truck spun itself inward and now has a ton movement side to side. Also, the ditch lights have a very bizarre flashing pattern when the horn is sounded (granted that part is small potatoes as that can be fixed through programming CVs). Haven't been a big fan of their rolling stock either, mainly due to the use of "multi-piece" trucks that can easily fall apart if you have to remove the wheels.

    Interesting information about BLI. In the last info letter they said that the ETA for the new BLI will be june 2025…..but at the 9th of January they updated the ETA on the homepage and now it’s written “fall 2025” for the BigBoy.

    • @da-joe-trains
      @da-joe-trains  14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yep, they said in their last update that they moved up the production timing for this new Big Boy run so preorders are due Jan 30th, and that they won't be making any extra, just the amount of preorders they receive

    • @TobiasL1000
      @TobiasL1000 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ yeah, but what I meant is that the ETA was june in the last update. but just a few days later, when they updated their homepage, ETA is fall now.
      Also the PB70 PRR passenger car sets are moved November 2025

    One thing I will never understand: DCC w/ sound costing more than DCC and DC.It's just a PCV board with a few files uploaded, and MAYBE a speaker...the technology has been around so long that it's getting to be called vintage.I get companies need to turn a profit, and there are other(better) ways to do so. With how many locomotives of certain classes exist, there really shouldn't be a difference in price, at least, not in today's economy...also, I'mma get one of each of those DM&E SD40's. That'll put my DM&E fleet at a proposed 7 by June(delivery in July for the ScaleTrains SD40's). As for the mystery box...the vehicles & buildings would get moved along. They would have my attention if they offered an engine too. The engine must justify the variables.

    • @da-joe-trains
      @da-joe-trains  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Agreed, there's still enough DC modelers that a split of DC/DCC Ready and DCC/Sound makes the most sense to me

    • @da-joe-trains
      @da-joe-trains  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      And on the mystery boxes, I'd want to know what types of items would be available, just like how Rapido has done. They've also said every box is unique so maybe it's just not possible or they pick things off the shelf to just fill up the box

    • @BattleshipOrion
      @BattleshipOrion 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@da-joe-trains I'm gonna do some OT to get the GoldLine box with the first 2 preorders of DM&E SD40's, and the 5 new Ho models I want. Just to try my luck, though I don't expect much. Like I said, any vehicles & structures I don't want will be moved along, or maybe put into storage(I dont have much space to layout entire yards, industries or vehicles unless it's N scale)

    • @da-joe-trains
      @da-joe-trains  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @da-joe-trains  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @texastrainfan56 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @da-joe-trains unfortunately i dont as of yet. I am looking to possibly getting one or two of the previous BN units and possibly get the other version of the SD40-2B they did although my wallet won't like all that either! I'm a little scared for Next week because I think every manufacturer has stuff to announce at the Amherst show and I just know there will probably be alot of stuff I want lol

    It's nice that you included Intermountain, but I'm getting a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to Intermountain. First, they keep announcing new locomotive projects when they have never released old announced locomotive projects. This goes back when they pushed to get the ET44's out before anyone else did. When they already announced Dash 9's and SD38-2's (which I pre-ordered and still never have seen or updates on). Then, there is the quality issues. I was thrilled when they did a run of their PS-1 Box cars in Milwaukee Road. When I eventually got them, there were glue globs everywhere. This is the worst I have seen from a manufacturer of this detail caliber. By the way the only reason why Intermountain wheels are preferred by modelers is because they're cheap. When Jay-Bee, Precision Scale, and Kadee have been making good wheelsets for years. And yes! These are all made in America. Jay-bee is now just JB, and I know Kadee doesn't have metal axles. Maybe if we keep asking maybe someday they will. Even Accurail said they would love to make metal wheels if they can get the machines to do it. By the way, don't forget to add Accurail to your newsletter update.

    • @da-joe-trains
      @da-joe-trains  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Similar thoughts with Intermountain, I only have a fantasy ES44 from them I picked up second hand. So many of their releases have been delayed without information released, I know they had tooling stolen and factories closed but had to do some digging to find that. I hope they're back on the right track now since it seems like they make decent products and can be a competitor in the market if their announcements deliver. Accurail will be featured on their next announcement, nothing yet in January

    There is too much overlap when it comes to certain locomotives and freight cars. Everything is made of plastic and there isn't many variations of plastic pellet covered hoppers and tank cars. A Trinity 6241, ARI 6250 Centerflow and Gunderson/Greenbrier 6250 with panda bear and candy coloered tankers would complete my manifest trains.

    • @da-joe-trains
      @da-joe-trains  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Agreed, someone else brought that up a couple weeks ago and it's still true even after a few waves of announcements since then. Would be nice to have cars that transport the very materials the models are made of!
