It's worth the price. A small size crawler can be used in the backyard for a quick session, as a 1/10 rig needs more space, far from home. A whole afternoon is required.
Also, the spirit of this hobby is creativity. Building your own crawler. $500 is enough to get a nice 1/10 RTR car, but how frustrating to run the same, exactly, as your friends.
