The effort they put into keeping the fish healthy and lively from the time they get them into the boat to the time they are released is amazing. Such a great sportsman... a catch and release solution!? Care for the fish is phenomenal and a great angler. He was way before my time but God bless that man
I can't believe I never heard of this guy growing up. I can't recall anyone even in the early-mid 90s who took such a methodical approach. Doug's approach to fishing is extremely modern and way ahead of the time in 1986. It was still conventional thinking to just wait until fish were ready to eat back then. I can't recall any of the big names talking about trying to trigger strikes outside of feeding times when I was a kid.

Thank you for posting this, very informative. I used to watch and read everything the Professor did, so much to learn from him. I know that this is older, but it just proves that you don't need a $80 to $100k bass boat to do well. It was funny hearing his old reels screaming during a cast.
These is a great program.
Congrats and thanks.
I have all the 3M Mastery series fishing videos. I wish I knew how to upload to TH-cam.
I still use mono exclusively, I don't like the brittleness of flourocarbon I've been told that I am missing it, but I still catch a lot of big fish.
I still use mono for certain application. Knots tie down better and it's got good stretch. Today's mono is pretty good. Overall though, I use braid with FC 100 leader which is a fluro-mono mix and it works perfect.
I use mono all the time, and I can catch 10-20 lbs fish
Braid with a fluro leader is the only way to go..
Whatever works for each individual is the right way. There is no one way or "only way" to do anything.
Suffix mono is high quality stuff. I still use it for ultralight spinning.
The effort they put into keeping the fish healthy and lively from the time they get them into the boat to the time they are released is amazing. It should really open our eyes on how we should be taking care of out modern day fisheries. Maybe then we'd wouldn't have such a hard time when it comes to landing a monster bass!
I'm glad I got to see this 💯👍💪, I love Bass fishing, the old teaching is the best 💯, just simple , I hear everything on here that I didn't hear watching it on the outdoors man channel 💯, I'm getting chills learning all this knowledge, things I been wanting to know and hear 💯🤘
Thanks for showing us this video...
I always loved his boat setup and the shallow water he fished.
Doug one of the all time best.
I learned more about proper angling from this video than from 30 years of fishing, reading books, and watching other videos lol.
This is so amazing. Tips that are still useful today, old smith wick rogues and the way he breaks down the fish behavior in water color that people simply don’t look at anymore.
One of my all time favorite fishermen...
Man I would love to get my hands on that boat he’s using nice setup thinking of building one pretty much just like it
RIP Doug Hannon. I learned more about big bass fishing from him than anyone else out there
Great episode
Doug talked to me a long time about how to set up a big deep pond in the Ozarks for successful smallmouth reproduction. Everybody wanted to buy that pond after that.
He was super nice to me!
Such a great sportsman... a catch and release solution!? Care for the fish is phenomenal and a great angler. He was way before my time but God bless that man
His formula, simly called "Catch & Release" was the first bass care product ever.
Google "Buck Perry". He is the greatest freshwater fisherman who ever lived.
@@christopherwood2290in 2005, ESPN had a 'greatest angler' series. Rick Clunn was #1. Roland Martin #2. Not sure where 'Uncle Buck' came in.
We need more fisherman and conservationists like doug
Doug , Bill dance and roland Martin and Jimmy Houston are legends
really nice to see somebody treat fish with care instead of chucking them back into the water and not caring what happens after.
I wanted to be just like Doug when I was young. He fished in my kind of water and plus he always caught huge bass.
This guy is awesome.
