City limits for these type of cities are so misleading lol! Austin is no where near the size of greater San Francisco/Oakland/San Jose area. Not even close!
The property tax rate given for Austin, while correct is a bit misleading. That’s the rate for a relatively small segment of the metro area. Once you get into the areas around Austin city limits itself, property taxes shoot up to anywhere from 3-5%. These areas are where most people live. We were paying $900/month in property taxes on a $250K house.
Whole Foods Market began and was founded by John Mackey in Austin, TX, I believe. An organic foodie craze that would change the mind, body and spirits of so many for years to come. (spoken by a convert who is a raw vegan foodie for life now partly in thanks to Whole Foods Market, which set roots down in Philly in 2001.)

SF weather is comfortable and cool Austin is too hot and can get humid

Both are horrible cities, very congested.
