Had the fight of a lifetime with my friends on this one, that feeling when you're the only one who dodged his ice attack and now you have to clutch up for your team is crazy
ESPECIALLY on hard mode, i was doing a trio with my cousins and somehow i could dodge EVERY SINGLE ATTACK that came in my direction, but i couldn't really do much damage to him because i was running a healing and reviving combo, so all i could do was waiting until i would regain my sp to revive my team mates (that would always die instantly somehow)

I remember playing through demo 1 with a friend whom I introduced to this game, we fought together all the way up to the king, my ass got stabbed near the end of the fight and bro had to beat the king on his own. I’m dead in his timeline.
I think no one has realized cruel king's cruel move, when he uses freeze (the one where he stabs you with the ice dagger) he does an animation after, and if you receive mortal damage you're as good as dead, its all because of that small animation after that doesn't let you regenerate before you die.
I have a theory, if y'all are willing to listen. So, Cruel King. His theme isn't really that scary compared to Griefer. Cruel King's theme (at least in my opinion) sounds a bit too silly for someone as serious and desperate to save his people as him. This could be for three reasons, from what I can imagine. A) this is the first actual important boss we fight. It makes sense to make his theme rather silly/encouraging so the player knows the game has their back and doesn't want them losing too much. B) his theme is much colder/scarier, but overshadowed by the guards. The royal guards that are supposed to stop us are nowhere near us in neither strength nor true will to fight. If they really did want to fight us due to the king's command, they'd all gather against us. They'd take the many sentient statues with them, and fight us like an actual army. I don't think soldiers would care whether they ate or not, and would just attack the enemy if their general, or in their case the king, told them the enemy has arrived. and C) the king's theme is darker, but overshadowed by the player. I don't think we ourselves have a theme, but it's more about our mood relating this. The player in this game is a time traveler, somehow coming back in time and wanting to go home. I think the whole first chapter they're confused and in denial, because all these cool things never actually happened in Roblox's past. I think the Player (the puppet, not us, who see the game as just that, a game for our entertainment) believes it's a mere dream in the first chapter, and don't take anything seriously. By the end of the fight, we actually kill the king. And only then do they realize this is real. That's why the boss/fight themes in chapter two are scarier and actually want you to feel a sort of strength to fight. Only after Cruel King's death can we go to the Guru, too. And what does he say? Something along the lines of "your soul is tormented by the past. Come sit with me, and I'll help you", that's what. I don't think the Guru knows what we did, more like he reads our expression and done very well, and can feel when someone is hiding something. Of course I might just be delusional. I'm looking into things a lot most of the time, and over think simple things. Also, sorry for any bad grammar I may have. I'm not gonna go and change it cuz this comment is already too long and I can't be bothered to fix mistakes I made at the 50% point, especially if it's just a letter, but I do appreciate it! I carried a whole team of 4 people by reviving, healing, blocking and dodging like a god. I really unlocked ultra instinct with this battle. PD: it took us like half an hour that try
This was the theme of me slowly realizing constantly defending after doing one other action wasn’t gonna work out and I would have to beat the king to a pulp.
What i love about blocktales is how easy and fun the combat system is compared to most turn based rpgs. And the mechanics aren't too hard to understand and you can actually improve on them.

What i love about blocktales is how easy and fun the combat system is compared to most turn based rpgs. And the mechanics aren't too hard to understand and you can actually improve on them.
