I came here because my physical therapist assistant canceled my most recent appointments at the last minute and forgot to print/send me the exercises this week for the third time in a row. I felt completely lost and in annoying ass pain. Everything she glossed over and more is laid out and thoroughly explained right here, in perfect sequence. Thank you so much! Getting back at it thanks to you. Sub

Perfect time* to unearth your channel! Parcelling out the rehab exercises into three categories is such a great idea. Your video has one other invaluable asset: your voice. There is optimism in your voice. An injured dude or dudette wants nothing more - aside from real world rehab specifics - than to be assured they are on the road to recovery. Knowledge and optimism; a powerful combo.
    * The ultrasound my GP scheduled will reveal the precise nature of my injury - my hunch is a grade one level injury to anterior deltoid and long head of the biceps.
The most unsettling thing was the beginning when I heard a sudden ‘pop’ (grade 3 muscle tear horror stories dominated my thoughts). I calmed down significantly after maniacal sessions of ice/heat, research, testing and continual reassessment.
Then I discovered your channel! Lucky dude am I.
All the best from beautiful Vancouver, Canada!

Thank you for guiding in all different phases of exercises. Would be great to know 1. how many repeats and sets, 2. how many times a day, 3. how long should be each phase.

The movement at 15:30 Should i keep doing this movement (but with less resistance until it feels better) if it causes slight pain?
Great video at the perfect timing

"I watched your video about shoulder rehabilitation and you mentioned that the treatment involves three phases. Should I perform each phase for a specific period of time, or should I work on all three phases simultaneously? Thank you very much for this informative and helpful video!"

Start phase one and progress once all moves are painfree or sore but no worse afterwards, do the same for each subsequent stage, good luck!

Hello! I have a problem that I have trouble identifying, even after watching A LOT OF YOUR VIDEOS. It is a sharp pain on the outside of my elbow joint, however I do not think it is tennis elbow since I do not get any pain while either flexing or stretching my wrist in any direction (or very very mild). The stress for which I get the most pain is when my elbow makes 90 degree with my upper arm and i exerce an outside force which is perpendicular to my elbow+upper. Basically if I were to do a lateral raise with my arm bent at 90 degree, this is how I would feel the most pain. It is very odd as I feel the pain ONLY when my arm is at this specific angle. Would you happen to know the name of this (or if you think it is tennis elbow). I have tried resting for a month now, but with no significant improvment I think rehab is the way to go... Maybe I missed one of your videos which would cover this? Thanks for the help, and I love your channel!

hello and thanks so much for watching my videos!! If the pain is load dependent (ie the force of gravity) but NOT muscle force dependent like resisting elbow and wrist motions, then I would look at other structures and consider the ligaments, joint capsule, some microinstability in the joint - easy way to test is to get the elbow in the painful position and apply a stabilizing pressure with your other hand to the elbow where it hurts - if the pain lessens or goes away, that's a good lead as to what is going on. Good luck!

Hi?I get the same..one month ago I fell with my bike but they gave me an appointment in mid Aug in physical therapy. When I do lateral movement it hurts on my shoulder in a certain point, but when I press it there,I can move the arm easier.I also have pain in the area women always say "it's jiggle", above the armpit area.I guess we have the same problem. Its been 2month that you commented, since did you figure out what is it?Did any exercise help you????

Great video. How many reps should I do for each exercise in each phase?
Should I start doing phase one three times a day, then phase one three times a day plus phase two twice a day and finally, phase one three times. a day plus phasee two twice a day and phase three 3 times a week?
    Thank you

thx for watching! I would do phase one 3x/day, then as you start a new phase continue as needed for maintenance of motion. usually by mid phase two most folks are doing enough of their normal activities to make phase one ok to stop doing. So... Phase one 3x/day; start phase two @2x/day + phase one PRN 1-3x/day; when you are able to do phase 3 you'll do phase one PRN daily as needed, and phase 2 on the same cadence as phase 3 - ie 3x/wk. There is plenty of wiggle room here - this is a good amount of overall stimulus and the body can handle some day to day or week to week variability. good luck!

@@focusrehab How many reps and sets? One set per exercise per phase? The standard protocol it seems is 3 sets of 15 reps, but that sounds like a lot for phase II. Thanks. You have a great channel.

@@steve_ames-2525 thx for watching! I'd start with 1 set of 5-10 and build from there based on pain tolerance.

You should make a proper dystonia exercise video for the entire body. Dystonia patients are in very much need.

    Hi Mr Burke,
I wanted your opinion on my medical case. Sorry its on meniscus related issue. I think you can help me . Please guide sir.
One morning i woke up and I had true knee lock and swelling , way back in 2007 when i was 17 yrs old one. Swelling went away in a week but there was catching of knee with some small round shape body once a while but it was manageable since i used to manoeuvre that small piece with my fingers and it used to go away and I was fine and good to go.
But over the years every once a while maybe i can say when i played badminton intensively. It used to swell a little and i used to give it rest and avoid that . But surprisingly over the years i trekked a mountain ,scuba dived ,did everything ,climbed stairs . This felt fine.
Now just a week ago i am feeling that something has changed in knee a little . Its very very mild mild sensation in lateral side knee when i climb stairs. I am giving it time and climbing stairs with other leg. Its not paining as such but mild discomfort in climbing in lateral side of knee portion but walking is fine .even sitting on english toilet is fine since it requires little squatting ..
What should i do..my main worry is its 17 yrs i have pulled on with this tear over these years.. will i get arthritis if i dont get surgery done or since i dont have locking or swelling or intense pain as such i should wait and watch it and give it time again to heal.
I just want that i dont get arthritis in my 40,50s . I am just 34 right now.
Please do guide..i really eagerly awaiting your reply and please suggest some exercise in my case.

You have inflammation and week support muscles around the knee joint. No surgery needed. Check out Upright Health. Did wonders on knee rehab.
