This looks very tasty: I'm from Lancashire and our Corned Beef Hash was using potato pieces or dice and I've never heard of cheese being used at all. We always used Oxo/bovril/Bisto type flavour and lots of liquid. to mop up with bread. If there was any left over it was used for bubble and squeek the following day ( just veg or cabbage fried off or simply add a lid and make a pie. Served with red cabbage or beetroot.. Can't wait to try it again.
Cheese? Tomato? Brown Sauce? In Hash?. My Nan must be spinning in her grave at the thought! Her version was same as yours Vera, and she came from Rochdale.
You make it different than us in my area of the UK. We cook potatoes, onion, and a carrot, with stock in a pan. Then add the cubed corned beef, the last ten minutes of cooking. Serve it with pickled beetroot or red cabbage.
Hi Debbie thank you for watching your version sounds very tasty i like the idea of serving with pickled beetroot and red cabbage. Cheers hope to see you again on my channel hugs Rose :)
I've only ever used corned beef with mashed spuds and it's yum. The beef has enough flavour on it's own without adding the other stuff l think, but lm going to try adding the cheese, wooster sauce and mustard. Just leave out the brown sauce, yuk, too dominant flavour wise. And not sure about the onions. I've found buying fresh sliced corned beef better for mashing as it mixes through the potato better, unless you prefer lumps of meat throughout.
Just found this recipe on Google. I've done corned beef hash before but wanted a different way of doing it. I pretty much do it this way but never added brown or bbq sauce before so I'll be doing that today 👍 looks delicious.
I am going to try this - my husband loves corned beef hash and we have all the ingredients. Now we are in lockdown and not working, I am beginning to do a lot of home cooking from scratch - have advised hubby not to expect this once we are back at work - back to slow cooker and sauce mixes then!!!!!
For easy recipes and tasty taboot try looking up Saint helena recipes you'll be amazed what that little island can make considering only one shop and gets deliveries once a month basicly they live on lock down all yr round lol you won't regret it but ya hubby will have put on a few pounds before he goes back work, I know I'm with a Saint haha
With food a bit sparse at the moment. I found a can of corned beef in the cupboard still in date. What a find!!!! I'm looking forward to making this. Thank you so much for the recipe. It looks delicious 🍷
Kandy Kandy there is no shortage of food. I'm only shopping when absolutely necessary about once a week and sometimes less than that. 👌🏻I meant sparse food in my cupboards! Good to have a tin of corned beef for this recipe though!
The way I was told was too great a raw onion great couple of potatoes great corn beef add mustard Worcester Sauce flower raw egg and then fly off into sections in a pan always turned out lovely
Par boil the potato’s in water that barely covers them then add chopped onions and simmer until cooked. Add the chopped corned beef, if necessary boil off excess water then season with salt and pepper, gently stir the contents and serve. Let the diners season to taste with Worcester Sauce or Brown Sauce. Very quick easy lunch.
Hi Hillary I like your quick and easy lunch idea made with corned beef hash. nom nom. Thank you very much for watching and for stopping by. cheers Rose :)
Now this is what the corned beef hash I grew up on looked like. You have a few tweeks I have not had but deffintly willing to try. Looks great. Planning on making this for my fam this week. I haven't hand this since I was a kid. I'm 34, so my kids have no idea what this meal is all about !!!! Completely forgot how delicious this meal really is. CNT wait to make it. Thank you so much for your recipe!!!!! Brought back memories
So Many Different ways of making this Dish . Yours looks Lovely. I Stick to the way my mum made it in the 70s. I think the version she did was probably shown to her during the war by her Mother lol
Just one tip. That type of can is normally produced in Brazil. They all contain exactly the same ingredients, and if you check the list on different brands you will see they are all the same. They are then sold to different brand names who have their own labels put on the cans. In a supermarket you may see famous brands at premium prices plus brands you have never heard of at cheaper prices. Do not discard them because they are cheaper. They are not an inferior product, but exactly the same inside the can as the famous brands. Once again check the ingredients and calories etc. if you don't believe me. They are all identical.
I am sure they are all identical, just as Tesco own brand of Rice or Cereals etc come from the same factory, and that is the point I support. Why anyone would actually consider eating this diabolical recipe is a mystery to me, even though a Corned Beef from the Deli is a far superiour product
Hi Christine Bless you, I do hope you enjoy this recipe after not having for such a long time. Thank you for watching and for your great comment. I hope to see you here again :) cheers and hugs Rose
Just the format for Corned beef hash I've been looking for, will be doing it very soon, anti lockdown food, looking forward to it, many thanks for your video.
Beans pretty much MAKE this dish for me. My missus was making fun of me for liking corned beef hash until she tasted it last week. Now all the leftovers are gone!
I'm going to try this soon. My wife is a carer/support worker sometimes doing a 24 hr shift. Her and our daughter are always concerned that I should have a decent meal, so I'm looking forward to doing it. It might also get me into trying other things, as I've never really tried cooking. Thank you x
Hi Steve Forum, thank you for your lovely comment. I am in a deep thankfulness for all our support workers. My niece is also a care worker in a home for the older generation. This recipe can be made in bulk and then frozen in portions , it will last for about 4 months in the freezer and if you add baked beans as a side dish then you will get extra protein or add a fried egg on the side. I hope it comes out tasty yummmy. Cheers again and stay safe hugs Rose :)
I never made corn beef hash in my life but a girl I support loves it and I wanted to get it right so had to think fast so Thankyou for this video quick and easy straight to the point 💓
Hi. Thanks for this recipe. Going to give it a go sometime as I have a couple of tins in my pantry. Not going to follow the recipe to the letter, but add a couple of my own variations to it. Use raw red onions; they will cook while the complete dish is baked; & a couple more variations I have up my sleeve.
Hi Monnie thank you for watching and your super comment. I have never tried it with adding sweetcorn, I will give this a go when I make it next. Many thanks again and cheers Rose :)
Yum. this is a good variation to mine.. I put celery and red pepper through my corned beef and that goes really well too.. and instead of mixing the potato in, I layer the mash on the top with cheese. Gonna try this way for a change. looks great.
I've Just made one , I make Cornbeef Hash regularly but have never put Worcester sauce, brown sauce or mustard with it. So here goes look forward to Tea time yummy.
Hi Christine I am so pleased that you liked the recipe. This for me is such a great comfort food. Thank you for watching and for stopping by. Many thanks and cheers Rose :)
I make corned beef hash regularly but for me that's more like the mixture for corned beef patties. I'm sure it's tasty but not my idea of hash but everybody makes it differently.
