Hey Everyone! A couple of you have reached out asking for my Runemaster Build. While I don't have a full build guide created for you yet, I have put together a quick explanation of my spells, my passive skills, and what stats to look for. Take it as an Idea and make it your own!
I wouldn't call myself a build master, but I can handle my own in this game. Also, I wont call out specific uniques, just because you dont necessarily need them, although there are some that can really help this build like the Mad Alchemists Ladle and such.
My build utilizes runic invocation as a burst fire spell, with each of the other spells mostly there to spread Ignite and a few other forms of Fire DoT. The five spells I use are:
Fireball - used mainly to spread ignite and do some consistent damage when out of mana. I took the conflagration route and buffed spreading flames with Spreading Inferno and Wildfire, then flammability to decrease enemy fire resist. You could also put some points in the increase cast speed or pierce nodes to more easily spread ignite and spreading flames. Remember that spreading flames cant stack so for the rest of the build you really want to focus on spreading ignite as much as possible since that will be a much larger source of consistent damage especially for bossing. Spreading flames is just helpful for large packs of enemies.
Frost Wall - Change this to fire wall as soon as you can. I increased the size a bit (not fully but 4/5 points) to be able to hit as many enemies with it as possible. Take Brand the Invaders, which will scale damage with your ignite chance. I also took Flames Unchained to increase my Fireballs per minute. Allowing for more ignite chances of course. After the fire nodes I went through The Dark Cold and into the Protection of the Apostate These nodes will grant you some extra ward, which is our main defense strategy, and give some extra damage to the wall which will be helpful for bossing. Lastly, I go up to the Biting Limit node, since this frostbite chance will turn into fire shred for us, increasing the amount of fire damage we can do to enemies who pass through the wall. If you have extra points you can give yourself more defenses by going to the bottom left, and I would also consider taking Howling Rift down in the bottom right if you are moving your wall alot and its costing a lot of mana.
Flame Ward - this is our defensive spell, the idea is to keep as much ward as possible while decreasing the amount of damage you take while its up. Its basically an emergency button, for when you get caught between mobs and cant kite away. It is also a source of guaranteed fire aura, which is another source of fire damage that is hard to pass up. So you are going to want to take Fire Aura as well as Eye of Flame to buff the damage of all fire aura sources, and then really just stick to the bottom of the tree. Max out Dilation for full Flame Ward uptime and then go down into Energize & Recollection for increased Ward and Ward retention. From there you can go into Prismatic Buffer and Barrier and share points with Through Flames and Flame Runner in the bottom left to buff your fire damage and give you haste while flame ward is active. Helps give you extra damage but also adds to that emergency button so you can move fast while flame ward is active. Alternatively if you feel like you need more defenses, you can actually forgo the haste and go to the top right of the tree to take Stalwart Defense, Desperate Defense, and Astonish. This gives you an automatic emergency button that casts flame ward as soon as you are stunned. Stuns happen a fairly good amount so it is definitely worth it if you find yourself dying extremely quick in those situations.
Flame Rush - Our mobility spell. This can be useful in more way than one, but for my build i chose to buff out the Rune Embers through the top right of the tree. However, the most important node to take is Epilogue at the bottom of the tree. This will cast runic invocation at the end of the flame rush, which i will cover next. After buffing the Rune Embers and taking Epilogue you can go 1 of 2 ways here. You can either go for more defenses on the left side of the tree, or you can further bottom right for more damage going through Solar Rush, Smolder and burn, Fire Eater, and Mark of the Forbidden Flame. Mark of the Forbidden Flame will allow you to spread your ignite and cause more burst damage if you run through the ignited enemies with flame rush. This is best paired with fireball pierce but can work just as well with a high ignite change and the Runic Invocation spells we use next.
Runic Invocation - This is our explosion spell, for burst damage and spreading our ignite. The idea is to trigger as many spells as possible with one cast of Runic Invocation. For this we head into the top right through Unbridled Run and into the Stride to Safety part of the tree. From here put one point in both Prologue and Interlude which will cause you to cast spells corresponding to all 3 runes you have stored up. For us, with only fire runes, this means we will cast 3 different fire spells spreading ignite to everything around us and causing cool explosions which are just fun to look at and do a lot of damage. After this, you want to go into the bottom left through Attuned Approach, Inscribed Patterns, and into Runic Energy. This will allow you to build up Runic Energy to buff your fire damage, so you want to put all 5 points in this node. In addition you can go in Copied Scrolls and then Arcan Battery which allows you to quickly generate runic energy through your flame ward and fire walls, and cast Runic Invocation at 45% more damage. Just remember to try and build up runic energy before casting Runic Invocation and remember that you also cast runic invocation through flame rush and those consume runic energy as well. Its not a huge issue, but the longer you wait in between casts, the stronger the runic invocation will be!
    Passives:
Early on in the mage tree you basically want to build health and ward at the top of the tree. However, The most important node on the entire mage passive skill tree is the Arcane Flames node. This will help you spread ignite much faster and in large packs. After that you can go straight to the runemaster tree.
For my Runemaster passive skill tree I mainly took ward retention, health, and intelligence nodes. You want as much intelligence as possible and as much ward generation as possible. I’ve also tried to buff my fire damage over time as much as possible, and my ignite chance along with it. You can decide which nodes you want to take and in which order, but just keep in mind that health is a necessity, ward is our main defense, and intelligence buffs both our damage and ward retention, both of which we desperately want. Later on when you get more passive skill points you can start to build damage through the bottom of the tree.
Another option you could look at is to go into the two other trees and find some good fire aura or ignite chance nodes or straight spell damage and intelligence. But dont worry about that until you are past level 80.
    Stats to Look For:
You want to look for anything to buff your fire damage, fire damage over time, ignite effect, and ignite duration. Later on in the build, having ignite effect and ignite duration is extremely key because you are going to be needing to stay mobile, which means keeping your stacks of ignite high might be difficult. Ignite duration eventually becomes the most important thing to look for on armor because there is no source of this in our spells or passives. Also, any source of fire shred or fire penetration is super helpful as well.

Runemaster is absolutely one of the best gameplay experience i ever had in an ARPG. I really loved how straightforward combo based combinations you could make with RM. Too bad other classes are not like him though. I kinda feel RM is just "too good" compared to the other classes. Hope they get a revamp (more combo based), but that would be too much work until December.

honestly i think if they have more options like the runemaster i could definately see myself playing more, back when it was super hyped around the multiplayer launch i played a bit but found myself a bit underwhelmed with the lack of options in gameplay, so yeah might hop back in and see what the runemaster is like :)

I guess it depends on what specifically counts as gameplay but I did like how much build variety there was though at least playing as the Necro (or whatever shes called, lich?). Being able to specialize each skill and make them behave way differently from how they normally and the mix and matching of the passives etc, I thought the lack of options at least in the builds were up there. Not quite as min/max and complex as PoE but significantly more than any of the Diablos. A nice middle ground.

    • @theslay66
      @theslay66 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

A mastery doesn't define how you will play the character. Between the passive tree, skill trees, and equipement, each mastery can be used in various ways.
If there's something you can't say against LE is that it is lacking options. You just didn't play enough to really grasp what was possible.
True, some masteries will lean more toward some type of gameplay. Runemaster will generally be a pure caster who fights at range. However you can also play as a beefy tank who teleports right into the fray and anihilates his opponents all around him. Or relies on heavy control and running away while the DoTs eat them alive.
And some other masteries are far more versatile. The Paladin for example can be used as a pure smite caster, a pure melee tank who keeps healing himself, or a ranged fighter throwing hammers or shield. The Druid has access to a wide variety of transformations, each with their own gameplay style. And so on.
It's all a matter of specialization. However, it's true that to really specialize your character, you will need to invest a lot of skill points and find dedicated gear. At low level they all start the same with the base class, that doesn't have access to real game-changing options. And quite frankly, after having finished the main campaign with dozens of characters, levelling a new character have become quite a chore. But with practice, it generally takes only 3-4 hours to reach a point where your build starts to take shape, so it's not that long.

I bought the game pretty much right at the beginning and I have to agree that technically, mechanically and visually the game has come a long way.
When it comes to quality and their priorities I want to put them almost as high as Larian.
They value UI and QoL pretty highly which can be seen in how intuitive pretty much everything is. Rarely you wonder how things work because it's either immediately obvious or well explained.
This can be seen in the loot filter and crafting, which is probably the best of any ARPG.
I haven't tried the new patch yet, but I am curious how the revamped areas look feel and the runemaster seems amazing. Kinda reminds me of the LOTRO Warden class, just a bit more complex and without the constant shouting.
Only things I never really got warm with were the world and the little lore that we have. It all felt pretty flat, but maybe that will be improve when they extend and build upon it.

I like last epoch alot, its definitely 2nd best arpg in my book. However the main draw for me is trade league with a strong economy and good bossing.. if they can get that rolling and atleast somewhat rival PoE economy it might just get the majority of my attention. Keep up the good work guys

as a Path of Exile veteran since closed Beta i like Last Epoch for its Independancy
because it doesnt rely on thirdparty tools and websites especially my personal huge problem path of exile has is friggin tft and the trade bots they're running for rmt
i hope LE solves trading much better than poe and i can move on from that game into a better one that values my time actually
also one of the problems poe has is to juice up content, i am so friggin tired of rolling maps buying compasses and scarabs only for it to run out 4 maps later (scarabs can be place 10 of each in the map device) so i am basically spending more time doing something else than playing the game which i am forced to and nope alch and go strats are garbage af in the endgame and doesnt offer even 1/10th of the loot a juiced map can give ...
i compare lots of games that have grinding in them to black desert online, in bdo i can just sit 8 hours there and grind my fingers off until im tired without needing to prepare something
i just go and kill stuff ...
also in LE i just can make a build without the need to calculate and prebuild something in a thirdparty program (pob) to even understand how a build works, i just can build something on the fly and adjust the gear and skilltree until it fits my playstyle,
last time i played i made a mage with glacial (not sure what the exact name was) and i noticed i can literally oneshot bosses with it and that was something i came up with myself not through some guide or third party tool preplanning the most efficient build ever
all i can say is that my hopes are high for the game to have a bright future in the arpg genre and so it wont make mistakes others did, specifically d4 and poe ...
thanks for covering the game :)

I bought this several years ago as a side hoe to Grim Dawn, played for a week, and wasn't particularly impressed. It looked like it was losing steam in its development a year or two ago when I checked back. Have to say, glad that wasn't true, it looks pretty sweet now. Endgame updates are priority #1 post-launch. Endgame is fine as it is for new players so it’s not like it needs to be redone for 1.0 when a bunch of new sales will be made. For people who have already played hundreds of hours, yes it’s gotten stale for us, but there are bigger priorities at the moment.

My only problem with LE is that I get bored of the endgame pretty quick. Other than that I think the game is awesome. I much prefer LE’s approachable crafting to Poe’s incredibly confusing and overly complex crafting. Wish I could combine LE’s approachable systems with Poe’s endgame and I would never need to play another game.

I definitely think combat feel is important. Some spells are great! And others are terrible. Like I really dislike tempest strike for shamans. It feels awkward and the animation is off. But other melee attacks like Rive feel super nice. Warpath also feels like you are chunking things with your spinning weapon. But then spells like any that the acolyte has kind of lack impact.

hi...thanks for your video....can i see your build guide?

    • @AllTradesJackReviews
      @AllTradesJackReviews  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Hi there! So I don't have a fully written build guide but I can explain really quickly the idea of my build.
If you have extra points you can give yourself more defenses by going to the bottom left, and I would also consider taking Howling Rift down in the bottom right if you are moving your wall a lot and its costing a lot of mana.
