Absolutely speechless at the change from what it was to what it's become. Born in 92, seeing the area for what it is, I'm shocked and saddened to see how much an area can change. All those memories lost, homes destroyed and only rough footage remains of a not so distant past.
Brilliant mixture of moving historic photos and evocative music. Absolutely loved this. So sorry to see so many beautiful brick buildings disappearing to be replaced by non architecture. I still love the IOD though, it remains a really great part of London!!! Thanks for this Freddie.
I’m an Aussie and I was lucky enough to live in Poplar in the early 1980s. I went to the Isle of dogs many times to drink with buddies. It was like stepping into a different world. What happened to it was just an act of vandalism.
I lived at 38 Tiller Road E .14. In 1993. Such a nice quiet neighbourhood back then
Strange to see a LARGE American car, 1:46, it looks like a 1973 Chevy Monte Carlo. Boy has the Isle of Dogs changed, for the better or worse or a bit of both???? Many of the older buildings show such craftsmanship, lots of bricks. OMG, that image at 7:31 is amazing

Hello mate, I know this is 4 years later but I’d like to get your thoughts on this. I lived on the island between 2000-2008 so I saw a fair amount of new developments go up, and now when I occasionally go back there nowadays there’s even more skyscrapers up. I loved my time on the Island, it was a very unique place to be, can you tell me a little bit more about your experience? Cheers
The singer and his guitar are a mighty company joining this tour. For me the Isle reminds me of Bayonne NJ in the same era.

So many changes now. I remember so well the blue bridge. It was a part of living on the Island, having to wait for the bridge. I actually remember the old one.

Used to live in Hammond House on Mellish Street, and then in Bowsprit Point, one of the tower blocks, between 1979 and 83 whilst at QMC. Really takes you back seeing this: so many half-remembered images (mostly pubs!). Used to walk under the footbridge to Greenwich to drink at the Gypsy Moth, but mostly went to the North Pole. Remember waiting for the 277 bus (or 106 if you'd missed the 277) from Mile End road to Westferry Road. Wonderful memories.
Moved into Knighthead Pt in the 80s from Stepney, left to move other side of the Island on Roserton St now. Back when I first moved in the Island seemed like a different world frozen in time.
I love this film including the blues song' Who knows the song and artist.

No connection with the Isle of Dogs whatsoever, (from Scotland), but i really enjoyed that. The place has, (well, had, reading the comments) so much character. Had seen a documentary before about Millwall F.C, (Panorama 1977 ), and that was very interesting too, seemed quite a tough part of London.
Great, pity they couldn't hold on to some of this. Real people lived back then none of this Almond milk Latte cafes what they have now, or Craft beer.Solid people who loved a knees up a pint or two in a straight in your face boozer serving Bitter n stout for the islanders.
solid people now there are no people. Those lightweight lads in the shiny skyscrapers work 7 days a week for 15 hours a day if you didn't know

Never been to the Isle of Dogs but loved the photos and Fred Neil in the background. I imagine it’s pretty much unrecognisable by now like most cities away from the centre. So much effort (rightfully) preserving Georgian architecture but the Victorian stuff keeps getting levelled even today.

Know it well, I worked at Foamair 1965 and Ibenco 64, it was above Foamaair who made Headboards.

The bad old days of today are the good old days of tomorrow.....let's be honest Millwall was a shit hole (trust me I know cira 1977) regeneration was needed, Thatchers legacy I guess.......side note what is the song ?? loved it.
