i owned the old solid body ubass, which was an expensive poorly spec'd POS. i have waited for them to build this, and now i just received the red one (which is freaking gorgeous btw). well done (finally) kala.

The solid body U-Bass is impressive. I don't think I'd play it at a show because I'd look ridiculous, but it could be a great first bass for someone new. Also, the bass equivalent of "Wonderwall" has to be "Seven Nation Army."

In regards to the campfire comment, you had better bring a generator because these basses are all but inaudible without amplification. But plug it in and they sound huge.

Bass equivalent to Wonderwall on that bass would be Stand By Me by Ben E King & The Drifters

I bought one of the later passive p bass by kala. Lovely neck. Pickups disappointing. Planning upgrade to dimarzio pickup. Hoping for the improvement it needs.

I have the 5 string solidbody and it is a ton of fun. Huge sounding low B, but not as good sounding of a pickup as the 4.

I've checked out these little basses before and they are pretty cool. And thank God for fret lines because I'd be screwed 😂👍

I love to hear some slap stuff on that mini p bass, maybe some "take the power back" by rage

@@TheBassChannel aww damn, I was thinking if getting one of those mini p basses for just slapping around my apartment and to take to jam sessions, I run a Cort 5 string and sometimes it'd just such a pain to lug around because it's so tall.

Fender Japan has been using basswood since the 80s and they don't sound "light"

That striped ebony fretless is my #1 but a solid body fretless would probably be more useable. Those rubber strings can be a nightmare, tested an electro-acoustic from ortega last summer and my finger tips got stuck to the rubber strings. Tested it again a couple weeks ago, in colder climate without any issues...
As for Josh, anything will do! Looking forward to it already! 👍

Try the Thunder Browns... your issue was the same for me, and the TB's were a huge improvement. Not as overly floppy, either.

“It sounds like a 34 scale”
No, no it doesn’t 😂 short scales sound like every other short scale.

Those aren't shortscales, they're miniature scale...they don't sound like a long or a short in a solo setting

Geez... first things FIRST... the brand is Kala... Kah' - lah. NOT Kay lay. They've been around longer than you have ; -) . Kala offers many string options beyond the LaBelle's. Thunder Browns loose the slickness factor and have longevity. As for both the metal and nylon core, (depending on pickup system) there are both flat and wound round. Aquila is also now making flat wounds ( Feb. 2023).
You failed to discuss ANY specs, scale ( 3" difference between the acoustic and the solid body); nut width and string spread; split coil on the solids, neck profile is different between models, and each model offers both fretted and fretless. On the acoustics there is no solid woods on the body, only laminates. Tuner ratios differ between the acoustics and solids. And, bridges on acoustic ( "hollow body?") v. solid.... No, you don't see metal bridges on acoustics.... if you know of one, please share the brand and model. That was an ignorant, throw-away line!!
The LaBelle strings will "work" on any 23-23.5 inch scale, not just Kala's. There are a half dozen other mass makers and customs in 20-23.5 inch scale models. ( Flight, Fanner, Magic Fluke, Hadean, Ohana, Allot)
This is my first 'visit' to your channel. Based on other review channels, I suggest you watch some of the other and find a review-style script. You repeat yourself a lot without following a stream of consciousness...hard to follow.
    Good luck with your channel.

Stick around and watch our other videos; we have several hosts and presentation styles. Sometimes a specific video just doesn't blow your skirt up. Also, unsure of the relevance, but Kala's only been a thing since 2005 and all of our hosts are quite a bit older than that.
