Loving this video as I prep my Empire of Ghouls game. I have gotten away from D&D Beyond and I use Foundry. I have all the class options and everything I need in Foundry so my players can access it whenever they want. We even use Foundry at the table when we play in person. The Foundry Character sheet takes the place of the DDB sheet. And when we play remote, we are gtg! Stuff that is not in Foundry yet, I can put in myself easy enough.
That he randomly rolled a human is so funny. I have a player in my party who also rolled for his character's race, on two separate occasions, and both times it ended up being human.
Very glad to see someone covering this in such detail! I love KP's stuff, but their campaign world and campaign books always seem like they default to too much dark stuff for my tastes. Maybe this series will change my mind. Looking forward to it!

Also just want to know how the third party player options are feeling to you (as dm) in game!
From my own personal experience and especially in games that start higher than level 01 I like to make my own paper character sheet because if i write it i remember it. Auto sheets are really convenient but a mix of new players and higher levels means you wont really be familiar with your abilities imo.
Great stuff, and I hope more online content creators focus on third-party products. With the One D&D thing, rolling out like a steamship I'm afraid it's going to squash alternate publishers. Keep up the good work.
The worst part of being so used to dnd beyond is that it’s hard to use third party products, especially character options and monsters, because importing them is a pain.
This is a product I really hope to use for a future game, especially since I've never run a prewritten campaign. I'm eager to see your future coverage of it, especially the adjustments you decide to make. I was also worried about the chapter 1 errands being too dull for experienced players.
I'm running this chapter now and I have fast-forwarded through all of the multiple days of helping Brik. We did the first task and then they skipped forward to the main event in his section.
check out sandypetersons mythos campains I recomend "have you seen it" and "yig sanke granddaddy" one featuring the king in yellow (his acvatar is female so good twist) and the other one Sermantfolk and returning prehistoric animals
My first character was a twilight sanctuary and I have a twilight cleric in the current campaign that I DM in. How would you allow them to use twilight sanctuary if you think it's overpowered?
He’s just using books he already has though, not saying these are requires for any game you might run. If you have lots of books, mix and match em to make something cool.
If you want to allow multiclassing for concept reasons but also cut down on the more exploitative feature-dipping, you could require that a character's existing classes must be at least level 4 before a new class can be added. If you want multiclassing to feel more like the pre-3e days, you could require a character's classes to remain within 2 levels of one another. For example, If you're a Cleric 2/Fighter 4, you can't advance fighter again until after Cleric has been advanced.
Hi Mike! I really like your thinking as you flow through the setup. Would you happen to be willing to share the structure that you use in this? Or is it free-flowing? I was thinking within the context of being able to apply your thinking and "flow" to my current structure (I am a Patreon patron if this helps :) ).

How many WotC books do you have?
To be fair I have run this campaign and my players did it all with WotC products. Of course you can add in Kobold Press stuff as you see fit.
