      It's even been said that producer Narada Michael Walden saw Aretha Franklin nervous in the studio when she was recording a duet with Whitney in 1989. Whitney did the recording in one take while Aretha did 8 retakes to try to out-do Whitney! That's how amazingly talented Whitney is

    I swear, every Whitney live performance was always different as if she’s reintroducing us a new version from the original every time! You should check out Whitney Saving all my love for you Live 1991 Japan. There’s operatic notes, crazy dynamics, and artist inflections that she did which is pure velvet.

    Nobody past...present or future can ever tell a story through words amd melody like Whitney Houston. She's like take a seat and let me teach you, listen to what I have to say. Everything is intentional, she's not showing off and doing un necessary this and that and up and down (erm Mariah) she's doing what needs to be done in order to get the message and meaning of the song over to the audience. Whitney was a vessel and a story teller and the true essence of a artist.
    It brought tear to my eyes was you called her a master and praised her especially from somebody who understands vocals.
    Whitney followed in the footsteps of Aretha, Dionne, Gladys, Patti, Shirley and my heart breaks that she isn't around anymore.
    Mariah a talented popstar...Whitney a incredible artist.

    • @samoanbiscuit8795
      @samoanbiscuit8795 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can praise Whitney without shitting on Mariah. Mariah was so different from Whitney, and that difference wasn’t a deficiency. Whitney came from the gospel world, where the message is important, the melody could be improvised by a skilled performer. Mariah was coming from an upbringing immersed in opera and jazz, where the notes and the vibe are just as important as the message, sometimes more so. If you don’t get that, that’s cool too. But don’t get it twisted.

    • @LesageSinging

      When it comes to Whitney, for me, it's less about the technique and more about how she approaches the words. Lots of singers have great technique. Very few are as deliberate with the text as she is.

    • @thiagoviana9644
      @thiagoviana9644 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really. She wasn't a technical singer. A more trained ear can hear the lack of finesse in her vowels and the constriction/valsava in her belts. Whitney was never coached by a voice teacher so her singing was sorely grounded on inate talent and incredible musicality.

      @@thiagoviana9644They never want to face the truth about Whitney's technical flaws including the valsalva due to too much subglottic pressure which even showed in her neck tension. I'm certain the jaw moving in tandem with the vibrato didn't help either.

    On 34:25 If you use to much wind to belt it will cause temporary voice paralysis and you can't access your upper register and it tires your voice out!

    My husband Carl West was blessed to be her Chior mate in the church they both grew up in. He would always say there was never any doubt she would become the star she became. BTW he NEVER referred to her as Whitney Houston…she was always, always, affectionately, “Nippy”.

    Rachelle like Michelle Ferrell. I like how you reference her. Now she has some annoying habit, but she is an amazing vocalist. 1 performance of her singing My Funny Valentine in this club Dakota is the epitome of jazz singing.

      I keep messing that up. I'm going to have to do a marathon of her to get used to the correct pronunciation.
      I think folks who dislike her facial expressions do not understand how she is precisely changing the sound using those facial expressions. That's what makes her so amazing in my book. She is a straight queen of tone.

    Please do a reaction on Patti Labelle singing over the rainbow where she’s wearing a red dress and I think it was an MLK tribute in the 80s. I would love for you to analyse her performance ❤️❤️❤️

      Beyond annoying!! And you keep pausing it for commentary on the part. You share a lot of good information, but maybe save some of it until the end.
