What's underrated is your channel! You guys deserve a 100 times more subscribers. Such good content and clean edits. Found you last week through your Boston video and have been catching up. Keep up the great work!
I moved to the southeast side of Jacksonville about 18 months ago. Between Amelia Island, Fernandina and St Augustine, I don't think we'll go anywhere else, ever.
We haven't taken a vacation in years... the reason is that we live here on Amelia Island and it's a vacation everyday! Every time we visit another Florida location, we can't wait to return to AI... when we get guests, they never want to leave. We are really the luckiest people living here.
Local here! Great highlight video of Amelia, it is a really cool place to visit. It can be an expensive stay longterm, and it is a bit crowded yes, but there is lots of charm around with much history. I've worked with our local museum (Amelia Island Museum of History) and they do pose a great option for tours of the island. If you focus your vacation strictly downtown, it is pricey, but the whole island has lots of hole in the wall shops and stores, like a treasure hunt. Perfect stay for anyone who wants a solid beach vacation.
Thanks for this information. We must have been there at a good time because I didn't get the sense that it was crowded other than the day the farmer's market was happening. The island is beautiful and I'm glad we did other things than just staying downtown as well. I do wish we found more of those hole in the wall stores.
@@TheDetourDuo absolutely! Summertime is usually our busiest season, since we are mostly a tourist town, with the exception of Shrimp Fest in May, and the Concours D’elegance (fancy car shows) in late February. Those are super fun to attend, would recommend shrimp fest for sure, everyone on the island sets up mini shops in tents on the streets of downtown for people to walk through, and the streets are shut off to car traffic for the weekend.
What a fun, informative video! Love the editing and I think you both have great personalities. Dont feel pressured to be more of an extrovert. Sometimes the world is just to peoplely and that's okay! You guys rock!
I didn't know about the 8 flags, nor the Pippi Longstockings house. It's nice to know new things about my community. Amelia Island is also a popular place for international petanque competitions.
@@TheDetourDuo There is a weekly tournament for fun that attracts foreign tourists and I assume out of town players - not too many spectators. I hear some petanque players of course play all week with each other.
@@TheDetourDuo I’m sure we will! If y’all ever make it out to Northern Arizona, we can show you all the gems. We live in Flagstaff, but Sedona, Cottonwood, Jerome, etc have amazing things to see 😁
WE live on Amelia Island - and it is heaven. We have the best Kayaking, boating, fishing in the entire State. In fact we have the only Sate Park that is a fishing pier - Overlooking the Nassau Sound , which is the most beautiful view to the ocean in the South East US. The weather is amazing 12 months a year. but most of all, this is a real working Island.. not the typical tourist beach town. No Tacky stores here! - Real Southern architecture and amazing residents. No chain Restaurants.. all just great food..Shrimp is plentiful here as is local fish such as Pompano, Spotted Sea Bass, Whiting and flounder. Amelia Island has the largest salt water marsh system in the United States, and the sub-Tropical Vegetation will be with you forever. The Live Oaks and Spanish Moss habitat is also the largest in The Country along with coastal Georgia. Our Maritime forest is protected and unique to East coast Florida. You MUST kayak the Sal Marshes while here, and also visit Amelia Island State Park, and Big Talbot and Little Talbot State parks which are our sister Island to our south.
My wife and I are headed to Amelia next week! Thanks for the tips and the fort, boneyard and food ideas. Didn’t need to know about the lactose issue! 😄. Thank you!
You guys did an awesome job with this video!! Amelia island is one of the most beautiful places in the South, it really is a hidden gem. My wife and I have been to a lot of the places you guys went to and had just as much fun as you guys. If you get a chance go to Hola Coffee shop, it is one block off of the main downtown area.
I'm coming to this party a bit late, but I'm glad you enjoyed our island! I will add it's a dog loving community. Most of the people are very friendly. Because the island is so small, asking for directions may end with you following a stranger's car to your destination. I know I've done that a few times. Sometimes it's faster to go there than explain how. The restaurants are great. With so many places serving excellent fare, new places are pretty much forced to step up or go broke. There are three thrift stores on the island, so bargain hunting can be a blast. For the best prices, go to Cats Angels on 8th St. It's close to downtown. Be sure to visit Bosque Bello Cemetery. The older part of the cemetery is to your right about a quarter mile from the entrance. Take your camera a do a lot of clicking. Even in broad daylight you might catch something to show to your ghost living friends!
Never too late to join the party. Thanks for all these recommendations. I've said before I know I'm captured a ghost on one of these video clips before. One day when I sort though all my footage I bet I'll find one
Great video, I just got into drone flying, do you know of any apps I can download where they can tell me if the place I’m flying allows drones or not? Thank you
The app I use the most before flying if called B4Ufly. It was created by the FAA so it's trustworthy. Any area that is restricted, like airports. The drone itself will tell you and if it lets you take off you'll get warnings. On top of that it's just having a flight plan before you fly included knowing what may restrict you beforehand
@@TheDetourDuo thank you brother!!! Btw me and my fiancée just watched you guys videos for the first time , y’all are amazing, she said she wishes we could all hang out lol, keep up the good work
@@Osobear14 Best of luck. take some of the free courses for drone pilots even if you don't plan on getting a Part 107. Good information to have in your pocket in case someone questions you about flying.
