As someone who has struggled with weight loss for years I can confirm that things like medications, birth controls, diseases, etc can easily halt or even reverse your progress regardless of how healthy your lifestyle is. Genetics also play a huge role in how easily someone loses weight. Not to mention living in the US greatly increases your chances of having a difficult relationship with food. Even the fresh produce here has more chemicals than other countries. People have been known to visit or move to other countries and not make any changes in eating or exercise habits and still almost immediately lose weight and lose negative GI symptoms such as diarrhea, constipation, etc. What’s easy for one person may be incredibly difficult for another.

I kept putting it off over and over. Then, in the spring of 2023, I had had enough. I lost 60 pounds over 5 months. I didn't starve myself or follow any fad diet. I cut added sugar out of my diet. I still ate fruit and other sugars, but I stopped eating the bad stuff. No cake, soda, ice cream. For five months, I was almost completely free of added sugar(it's damn near impossible to go 100% sugar-free today) My blood sugar, blood pressure, heart rate, and every other health measure are excellent. I'm 53, so I recently had a full physical. I'm in as good a shape as a man half my age now. You CAN do it.
For snacks, I ate Cracked Black Pepper and Dill Triscuits. No added sugar in those flavors. I ate very little processed food and limited eating out. When I did eat out, it would be a garden salad with chicken. I'm not a huge dessert eater, so that wasn't a problem. Sour candy is my thing. Cutting that out was very, very tough.

Congratulations! 🎉 Ditto here, but my way was to ride my bike to the course, and play two full rounds of golf/discgolf every single day: rain, shine, blistering heat… I actually INCREASED my intake calories to about 3000 a day, but I dropped 60 pounds of fat over that summer, then put 20lbs back on, because that’s my ideal size. Alas, pandemic and moving to suburbia hell (where people park on the sidewalks and try to run down pedestrians and cyclists) hosed me, but I I’m only about 10 to 15 fat-pounds over, not 40 to 50. I call that a win, for now. 😁

Don’t worry about “the number” worry about the progress focus on a pound a week then a couple then a little more. you’ll find your self in a routine that then promotes weight loss and you’ll just keep going.
