I love his story arch and how they tied him up on GMW with Tommy. That was some of the best story lines on GMW even though the State Senator debate part was a tad simplistically cheesy.
I love how in the future they always say that Topanga and Corey were childhood best friends but when they introduced her they act like they just met for the first time
I had just started binge watched BMW, and then i watched some spoiler clips of cory and topanga... It's pretty weird that they made it seem like cory and topanga were childhood besties who used to hang out all the time. In season 1, topanga was just that weird hippy kid that cory knew in 6th grade
@@misssteak1290 they “*saved*”it by saying they stopped being friends for a while and became friends again in middle school. it works because some childhood friendships end and respark, but it’s not the best patch to the plot hole.
They REALLY pushed the hell out that retconned background story! Almost felt gaslit into accepting it as og canon..😅 My brain tried to make it work and reconcile it, because it did not compute! I just decided to "suspend disbelief" with the possibility that maybe it is coherent - that maybe they DID meet at 2, and were friends up until the age where the opposite sex/gender is "gross," so they went into a years long phase where they didn't interact much..😅🤷🏿♀️
So here's the thing. This show delt with some serious issues...death, devorce, wondering what's going to happen to you as a kid who's been completely left his entire life, showing what it's like to be seriously bullied...to only name a few. Now a days you have kids going through "hard times"....are we going to be friends forever, I had someone say something mean to me, do I have a safe place for my feelings....these are things Girl Meets World did and they aren't REAL life lessons. This is why Boy Meets World is far superior to anything from today. They weren't afraid to tackle real issues and show you the gritty....today they're too afraid to say something someone might possibly perhaps take a small offence to.

I think he just had a normal reaction to her quirky ways. It’s like he never knew what she was going to do next, therefore making it seem like he just met her.
I liked GMW, I wished it would have been longer. But, BMW, to me is better, because although the episodes dealt with deeper issues, you could understand them as a person. Cory being a good friend by helping Shawn stay on the right path, great storyline. In GMW, some episodes were good at dealing with deep issues, but others you were like “what?”? For example the whole panic about Maya loosing herself and becoming Riley and that somehow relates to her liking Lucas, because she’s protecting Riley by becoming her unconsciously (what?), she’s only 13/14… why does she have to be an out of control wild card all the time, as the rest describe how she should behave. Why is it wrong for Maya to behave nicer or get good grades if she wants, everyone changes overtime and is not the end of the world because of it. And why are kids and teens talking like psychologists and philosophers, nobody their ages talk like that on purpose! 🤦🏻♀️
what i loved so much about cory is he would follow his friend anywhere and make sure no matter wat he was safe, that last clip of him jumping out the window after shawn really just shows you no matter what he's always gonna be there.

The episode where she gets a hair makeover and gets her original style back and Cory replies saying ''Shes never needed to act out, she must be getting harrassed'' Writers plain did Topanga and Cory dirty on that episode.

Now, I can't remember _what_ I said the first few days/weeks we met, but _perhaps_ it was the time I mentioned facemasks to a teen worker. Asked him if his school had to wear them, told him how they ironically make my nose feel congested when they're supposed to be protecting us. Not that I was going into depth about the sensitive topic; I was brief and casual. The girl was basically all, "Okay, John, that's enough. Let's not talk about that." Yesterday, she sounded a bit annoyed about my collecting things for a room that already had them. Didn't exactly sound *casual and respectful.* I snapped, "Did I do something wrong?" She was like _"What?_ No. I was just..." yadda yadda, I have to look into the room to see what's already there...something like that. But you know, it's hard to tell whether her information is matter-of-factly or stern and "anti-John." We were very quiet around each other that morning, and of course, she chatted merrily with the others the night shift. Is this a work clique?
Agreed. Season 1 and 2 Corey was way more relatable and a better character than the guy he became afterwards. Season 3 onward just didn't feel like a real character. His infatuation with Topanga could just be too much at times. I'd say this is one of the biggest reasons why season 2 was the best. It's the season that is most close to the premise and title of the show. A boy navigating a new setting in high school and trying to find his place there.
