Great video 👏 people don’t realise the importance and influence fine tuning has before slamming a bunch of aftermarket mods all over the bike and expecting instant miracles.

That's some outstanding youtube content boys. I love KTM 2smokes. I play with and tune many of the 250 and 300 EXC rang for my self and others but with out the luxury of a dyno using a very quiet rural road not far from my home in the southern suburbs of Perth.to date I ride a 2014 300 exc which Ive had from new .for it have a couple of different pipes several different mufflers a couple of different heads a couple of different sets of reeds. You could make some very popular content doing a similar style dyno vid utilising all the parts and combos as the KTM enduro rang is hugely popular around the world .

Thanks James. The dyno is great to see what works and what doesnt. Wade from Bunbury KTM loves playing around with the R&D on these models too. Sounds like you love a dabble with mods too. Good stuff !

From what I hear with the yellow spring the bike has more power at low revs and almost the same power at high revs For me, the yellow spring is the best all-round choice for the track. Great video by the way.............

What helped the most with out a doubt was the airbox cover, wow... I have a completely closed airbox and my filter usually is dirty at the end of one riding day (I usually go 2hrs a day) with holes i may need to take an extra filter with me cause I've been told they get dirty quickAF

To make power, you need to burn more fuel. More fuel burned is more power. Obviously the fuel needs to be able to be burned vs just adding more. More fuel & not burning it will result in a rich condition & power loss. So less fuel burned is gonna drop power.
The metering rod type fueling system on the Lectron & SC2 don't deliver the fuel in as good of a state for combustion than a Mikuni or Keihin. The Keihin & Mikuni have air bleeds feeding into the main fuel delivery system BEFORE the fuel enters the carb bore with the main airflow. These bleeds help "break up" the droplets of gas into smaller droplets compared to the bigger droplets of the metering rod stuff pf the Lectron or SC2.
This fuel won't burn as complete so the power is down. This means less fuel used/burned for power per stroke. When less fuel is able to be burned, less can be sent through per cycle. Thus the power drop BUT this is where the fuel economy comes in for the Lectron or SC2. They can get further on the same fuel amount because they burn less fuel. Burning less fuel makes less power.
The Lectron or SC2 also need to be tuned as much as any other carb out there. The Lectron is a way better carb than the SC2 but I still wouldn't waste my money on one. They are both inferior to the Keihin or Mikuni.
The Mikuni being a problem to tune is total b.s. as well. One guy can't jet & suddenly the carb is junk. The Keihin is the best all around carb but the Mikuni is absolutely solid & right there.

    Not a controlled experiment.
Much of that power could have came from simple spring swap and cover mod.
Should have shown HP numbers with stock exhaust pipes and PV swap and cover mod to show true gains.

Well done! One question, the red spring adjustment, what was it? From the stock position (assuming you started there), CCW or CW and how far (1/8, 1/4, 1/2?). I realize there is probably variation from bike to bike but it would be a good starting point. I'm going back to a two stroke, new KTM 250 Sx at the end of the week, so this is very stuff for me.

On my TC 250 I am running 1-1/2 turns in from all the way out. Last time I rode it I was on the yellow spring. I just swapped the red spring in and gunna leave it at 1-1/2 turns in. Bike has been SLOW up top but the bottom has been gnarly. I hope it will rev out now. If so there will never be a 450 in my garage again.
