Hi , just been out on my GS today first time this year , i should have left it for another month i think , it was 5c and what looked like dry roads, turned out to be far from it , still loads of salt about , got back home and had to spend well over an hour washing it and being well in my 60's and not in my teens anymore , blasting around on my CB250 in all weathers back in 1972 ,them were the days ,but being old i should have known better today
Hi there from Tarn. I agree 100% with everything you've said. I don't do winter riding either and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I have no desire whatsoever to be freezing cold and wet through just for the sake of getting the bikes out! I get zero enjoyment out of it so I won't do it. Then there's the salt and the cleaning bit, no thanks! Roll on warmer and drier weather 👍
Totally agree, at 65 the effects of cold wet weather take their toll. If I go out and it rains so be it. But I aren’t going out knowing I’m going to get wet and cold. The cold weather really gets into my bones now, I want to enjoy the trip not freeze to.
Hi my very first bike was two MZ 250 that I built a bike for the road out of the two. I did this because the bloke who showed me how to work on a motorcycle said, it's always best to know how a motorcycle work if you intend to ride one, and that's how my life in motorcycles started. Great video 😎👍🏻
Im exactly the same, now in my 60s and have no desire to be soaked and frozen. Bike was my only transport in the 70s and having ridden many different bike thru a winter its no fun, stripping off soaked to find your legs have turned blue from your jeans dye is a novel experience. So now its the car if the weather is lousy 👍
I went out for the first time this year. No rain, dry roads, sun (mostly) out, too good an opportunity to miss out around the Peak District. It's still cold obviously but I needed the ride. Nice to see a few others out too. So I'd say I'm a fair weather rider too but I couldn't care less 😂
Hi there.. just found the channel and have subscribed . Im 67 and totally agree with what you say. No fun in being cold and wet!. Was similar to you years ago. My first job, age 19 in 1977 was in the local kawasaki dealer here in scunthorpe. I too could ride all the part exchanges Great days indeed. Cheers.
Agree with basically everything you have said. The last 2/3 years, I have really felt the cold, even when covered in loads of layers. Came close to buying Keis jacket but didn’t. A couple of weeks back we had a number of dry days together but I wouldn’t ride because heavy salting had taken place & hadn’t been washed away. Don’t mind too much if it rains whilst out, but unless it’s for a specific purpose, I won’t set off in rain.
My days of any weather riding are long gone now. If I cannot be sure the weather is gonna be warm and dry all day and beyond (if I am going camping) me and the bike stay home!
I'm on my 125cc and have a car too but love going out when its raining, cold or wet I dont mind. I dont understand the whole fair weather rider thing when your living in the UK, it rains most days anyway so you know what your expecting. But then again I treat my bike as a utility workhorse just like people in Asia do. You just have to have the right rain gear, thermal base layers. But we are all different at the end of the day I guess.
Contrary position is as you’re ageing you feel you don’t want to waste too many potential riding days as you wonder how many more years you’re up to it
Hi, with you been riding 54 years this year and if it’s below 10 deg then this time of year iam at home, soft arse maybe but I don’t enjoy it, you take care ted NW biker dude
You've nothing to prove .if your not going to enjoy it why bother other than the thrill of the ride and in shite wintery weather or winter rain its no fun .Visibility poor .save it for a better day

Couldn’t agree more. That’s exactly my point of view.👍

Managed a short ride today, dry but chilly!
@@barnsleybikervideodiary7694 me too, popped to squires for a cuppa in the afternoon sun
Yep totally agree👍
I don't have anywhere to store a bike that doesn't matter.
My Harley lives in my hallway.
It's mostly metal and I understand chemistry.

I did a few local roads round West Yorkshire

Hi I'm with you, at 62 I like dry roads and if it's over 12c I'm on the bike. Just a toy for nice day's 😊

Very sensible comments mate I'm the same

Always a dilemma, but being retired gives me the choice every day.
Went to Glossop yesterday and back through penistone
