An amazing group with beautiful voices. I have enjoyed all the singers even though I only discovered them this year. The songs tell stories we have all lived somewhere in this world. Thank each and everyone of you. Evelyn Manteris in Virginia, USA
Most people won't think of this as an Irish song but it is. The Royal Irish Rifles were the first unit into France when WWI was declared. They were also the main regiment at the Battle of the Somme. My grandfather was one of them.
That's because it is not Irish , Written in 1976 by a Scotsman who emigrated to Australia . The lyric "the flowers of the forest " is a reference to a lament for the Scots who died at the Battle of Flodden in 1513. The song is for all those who lost their lives in WW1 not just those of a single country such as Scotland or Australia
I first heard this song shortly after we lost my first nephew who was only 15. I cried until I couldn't cry any more and I cried every time I heard it. You would think after all these years (he would be nearing 50 if he had lived) it would be safe to listen to this song at last. Nope it wasn't but Damian did a fabulous job. Thank you for all the music you bring into our lives.
Many thanks for a beautiful rendition of this song. I'm here in Portland, Oregon and love my son-in law who is from Malahide, Ireland. It's been fun and a blessing to watch you mature in voice and in life. Thanks for hours of beautiful music.
I saw Celtic Thunder last month at the Virginia Theater. It was amazing performance, wonderful vocals, and so much fun. We sang and clapped all night. ❤ 😊
This is one of my top 3 favorite Irish songs plus my favorite band. I'm 36 and this song has been one of my favorites as long as I can remember from childhood. I'm so glad celtic thunder sang this amazing song. Thanks so much and I hope every who listens feel the emotions in this song.
It's not Irish written in 1976 by a Scotsman who emigrated to Australia .that's why it has the lyric "the flowers of the forest " a reference to a lament for the Scots who died at the Battle of Flodden in 1513 when James IV 's Scots were defeated by the English so what are your favourite 2 Irish songs? ;-)
Bonsoir ! je ne connaissais pas ce chant, et je regrette de n'avoir pas eu les paroles en sous-titres. Le sujet m'a vraiment ému. Nous avons partagé tellement de souffrances, entre les deux côtés de la Manche...
Ryan had been dealing with personal health issues so he hasn’t been with the group the past couple of years. He’s supposed to join the cruise in 25 and hopefully be back with them for the fall 25 tour.
Beautiful. So very beautiful
