    Hello dear friends, I love learning from you so please share with me and with everyone some of your BEAUTY SECRETS > It doesn't have to be connected to wearing a red lip. Just share a random beauty secret :) And don't forget to read the comments. Let's all share the positive energy and learn something new 🥰❤

      I really like this format. And I always wonder how French women look the way they do. I learned something. I'm not that comfortable in a red lip. Maybe you'll help me change that. Merci beaucoup pour the video!💚

      @@DeborahCarlston Hi Deborah :) I hope you will change your mind about the red lip and try it because I think you can't go wrong with a classic red lip. This is a look that everyone can wear and I'm confident that you will look gorgeous. Maybe choose a cool toned red lipstick as a start because it really helps to make teeth appear whiter and it brightens the whole complexion. If you feel uncomfortable you can start with a lip stain in the beginning. Actually I might do a video in the future showing different ways to wear a red lip. Sending you much love and as always a huge thank you for watching my videos. xoxo

    You have inspired me. I bought my first red lipstick in my life (age 61). I bought Chanel, the color is Alive. A nice blue/red. At first I was nervous to wear it, but I put it on and walk out the door with confidence.

    fun topic ... For daytime I choose brighter reds as opposed to deep dark reds. In fact, now that I am older I find brighter reds much easier to wear. I stay away from orange based reds because I feel they make the teeth look yellow. Cooler reds make teeth appear whiter. I also use minimal eye makeup. I will only tightline the upper water line with black liner. I also skip putting mascara on the bottom lashes when wearing a bold red lip. It looks more youthful to me. You are so right about spending time making sure skin looks flawless.

    • @Frenchforaday
      @Frenchforaday  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Kathleen :) This is such a great tip about lining the upper waterline. It definitely adds more dimension to the eyes and makes the lashes look naturally fuller. Sending you much love and thank you so much for watching! I'm always so happy when I see your comments. Have a great weekend! xoxo

    Hello. As a 66 yr old French ( Canadian) woman I would like to share my experience. My people usually only wore simple complexion products with a red lipstick 💄. Basically a French face was minimal at most. In 2022 my look is complexion first, bronzer, blush and a Rosie/Red lip. Blotted of course. I love this series, thanks.

    I am 56. I have pale skin color. My mother and grandmother always wore a minimal makeup but loved red lips. Over the years I have adapted the French makeup look. I love an everyday red lip. I met my husband at church. I had a red dress on with minimal makeup but had a bold red lip. 25 years later he still talks about my dress and lips.❤
    When I wear red lipstick I have to use a lip liner.I use a nude lip liner close to my lip color to define my thin lips. The liner doesn’t show under the red lipstick. But gives me a more defined line to follow. I also use a lip brush to apply red or any dark lipstick.

    Bonjour Angela, le look est superbe et très français. Blurring and blotting the lipstick is essential. We also emphasize the Cupid bow less than when one do a glamour look, if that makes sense. Almost a straight line. It makes the upper lip pouty. The hair like the skin is kept healthy and shiny with good shampoo and conditioning so there is less need for heavy hair styling. Keep it natural with a good haircut. The hairdresser is the ultimate French woman secret.

    Hi Angela 💜💜💖 I love this video! Thank you! My tip is an old tip, put your lipstick on then take a kleenex tissue and take a layer off so it’s a very thin tissue. Fold it in half and blot some lipstick off, then reapply, blot again and reapply one more time. Sometimes after the first or second application I lay the super thin tissue on my lips and tap a bit of face powder on the thin tissue that is laying on your lips. You can also do this at the end to mattify your lipstick. This powder trick is wonderful if you have a favorite lipstick color but you want a matte look for the day.

    Hi Angela compliments for your tutorial and also for the tips!i will try your tip regarding the "contour" of the lips, i usually use a pencil to do the contouring, but you are right, the result is different!i have an enormous collection of red lipsticks are i loved wearing this colour!the best for my complexion is Russian Red , and i loved a lot the joli rouge in Clarins red. In my 30's it was a must, but now that i am 42 i don't use them anymore. There are many reasons...one is that they make you look like a lady and i still want to look like a girl 😀; there are many years i use Korean beauty products, i take very good care of my skin, and i enjoy that flawless type of make up asian women have. But i had nostalgia watching your video, so tomorrow afternoon i will go to the theatre with my husband and our daughter and i will put on red lipstick!!

    Ah I love this!!
    My secret to a red lip that I do is keep the eyes bright. I do a natural pair of wispy eyelashes (I opt for lashes because my natural ones do not curl at all), white liner, champagne on the inner corner and tight line the upper lash line with dark brown liner.
    I have full lips so it helps make my lips pop. But also makes my hooded eyes look bright and awake. Then I usually do bronzey neutral blush. To add warmth but still be cohesive with the lipstick since bronzey blushes usually have a hint of red.

    • @Frenchforaday
      @Frenchforaday  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Awww thank you so much for the wonderful tips! ❤ I also love to add some brown eyeliner on my upper lash line. And I completely agree that using a bronzy neutral blush looks gorgeous with a red lip. Have a great weekend and a huge thank you for watching! xoxo

    I also like a classic red lipstick 💄, a blue based one. I usually apply a lip mask or a lot of lip balm overnight so the lipstick glides on smoother the next day. I like a red glossy lip if the formula is not sticky, it looks very natural and pretty. Thank you, thank you for sharing as always, Angela! I love the idea of this French series. ❤ I hope Angela and all of you have a great weekend! 💄🇫🇷🤩😍🥰❤️

      Hello Christina :) ❤ You always make my day! I agree that a glossy lip looks very nice and youthful. A few years ago I used to have one classic red liquid lipstick by Estee Lauder. If I'm not mistaken the name was pure color envy but I don't remember the shade name. I think it might have been a limited edition. I will check. Your comment just reminded me of this color. I loved it so much. Have a wonderful weekend! xoxo

    My tip for lips is to not press them together after you've applied your lipstick. Doing so pushes the lipstick up and out and makes the lipstick feather and bleed into the fine lines above the lips. I was taught this by a professional mua and it really helps. Also, blotting and powdering and two or three coats of lipstick to make it last all day. Use a lipbrush to use the same lipstick but to have a more sheer or natural effect.

    Salut Angela! Great video and great idea with "French corner" on your channel. My red lipstick tip when you are too shy or not entirely confident with waering red color, but you want to try: instead of "classic" application, try to make "stamps" on your lips with a lipstick. It will also look effortless, you will have a touch of color and it will look chic 💋💋💋💋

      I discovered a new 'trick' yesterday. I have narrow lips and dry/dehydrated lips and akin . First I put on lipbalm. After a long while a red lipstick, paper blotting or just went on drinking etc. The red was there, but not bright. So I put on more biotherm lipbalm and it looked amazing! Subtile but red, and moist lips. Nice to try if you are a bit shy on the red. 😊

    Oh i loved the team and your look, Angela. I am obsessed with French girl aesthetics. I have my balayage, fringe style like BB and finally got done by French stylists, here in US.And what a difference, from American stylists🤪😜🙌 I love red lip look. I always search for that perfect red lipstick, and some i got are nice, but nothing compare, to my Chanel first light lipstick. That orange red is just so beautiful on blonds, warmer tone complexion. I have permanent makeup done on my lips, so its easy to use any lipstick. But i like to kiss the tissue, after i apply and then just add little bit more in the middle. For eyes i actually like do lighter than my skin concealer, , to brighten eyes i line the top waterline with light brown / bronze eyeliner, and i use chestnut brown mascara. Very light pink blush. I like Sisley blush / highlighter. So all about the lips 😜 Have a blessed day🙏🧡

    Amazing tips, thank you. I don't know who said it but there is a perfect shade of red for everyone out there. Finding the red that makes you feel beautiful and not over the top, so you feel comfortable to wear is my secret to wearing a red lipstick. Next time you go shopping check for french brands such as YSL, Chanel, Dior and review the tones of reds, try wear them before committing to buy a red lipstick. I found some amazing ones from YSL, Lancome and Lisa Eldridge velvet collection. But a rule of thumb is if you are blonde (look at your hand - your veins are blue, not green) than you should consider reds with blue undertone more on the cooler side. If your veins are green and you lean more brunette you can do well with orange base red. Again, try various reds to see which one fits you best.

    Hi, this was a fun video. I use a very light hand for the red lip: first, I lay a very light base layer with a lip liner in over the entire lip; then I apply a satin or matte shade, but gently tapping the tube over my lips. I never swipe, I always tap, both for the liner and the lipstick.

    Merci pour les bons tips Angela. Quel raffinement tu as en appliquant ce rouge! Une naturelle. I’m not French but it is my first language… For me the trick is to find a lasting lipstick that is nearly matte. I have 2 that are bullets but they almost stain the lips red under the more emollient matte formula and will stay on passed lunch and diner with minimal retouch. Then If I want glossy lips I just add gloss on top.

    This was a great video! LOVE French beauty, especially a bright lip with minimal makeup. So beautiful. When I wear a red lip, I use a pore minimizer primer in my lip lines, then I use a red lip liner and pick either a true blue red or a pinky red lip (Tom Ford - Lost Cherry), they just look better with my cool/neutral skin tone, then a bit of concealer around my lip and over the pore primer. The French skincare is my favorite! I've been using Biologique Recherche for years and love their products. I was wondering how does the Givenchy makeup sponge compare to the beauty blender?

For skincare and my very oily skin my dermatologist recommended uriage their hyseac line and to avoid too much hydration but nevertheless i love fresh velvety skin that does not look like makeup, more cool toned shades for eyes lots of mascara, pink or reddish blush and the perfect blue toned red lip! Lots of love, Stella.

    revlon colorstay red lipstick will stay all day! there is a gloss included that you can add on top which helps the lipstick last longer. I put it on my lower, press my lips together, then fill in the cupids bow and give it time to dry before topping it with the gloss. as the gloss wears off, the lip color underneath still stays.

    Great video! I've been experimenting with mixing 2 or more shades to get a custom shade. The shade I end up with depends on my mood or outfit or what I'll be doing that day.
    What brush/since did you use with the blurring powder? I do not believe I have seen it before.

      Hi Bonnie ❤ Thank you so much for noticing, I missed to add this one. It is La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo cream. But this moisturizer is different in the US and Europe. The European version is less aggressive. The US version is stronger. I've tried both and I like them. The US version is best to be used directly on the breakout (like I did in the video) while the European version can safely be applied all over the face. xoxo

    The French red lip is a beautiful look. I do have a question though. I prefer a lip stain as a base then a very subtle layer of a blue based red lipstick. Do French women wear lip stain and what is a good brand that doesn't look too 'done'? Thank you. :)

    I never use a lip pen with a lipstick, especially with the red one. I apply a red lip with a finger and pat it on, which gives it a stained, imperfect effect. I like the cotton bud idea but would have no patience to use it. Thank you for the interesting video.

      Hi Mieczyslawa, Thank you so much for watching and for sharing your tips. It's really helpful. I agree that using your fingers and patting the color created a beautiful effect. Almost like a cloud of color. Have a great day and I hope you will enjoy some of my future videos as well. xoxo

    Hello Angela, glad to enjoyed your time in France ? But where were you located in your 20'. ? Maybe you already know what Im about to say..in order to make your red lipstick more stable. slipt into two the tissu you used in the vidéo..let one half on you lips and powder your lips trough the paper...and then reapply you red...You'll see how it lasts...plus the finish.

    • @Frenchforaday

      Hi Chris, I'll definitely do it tomorrow. As always you have such amazing tips for me :) I still use the highlighter tip that you shared a while ago. I used to live in Nice in my late 20s. I've always loved France - the culture, the history, the architecture, not to mention the cuisine and the people. For some reason I always get the best treatment in France and I never really felt like a foreigner even though my French is not great but it's a work in progress :) I hope I'll go back someday. xoxo

    Hi, Angela) don’t you wash away with water the excess from masks off your face? I assume it can irritate the skin, at least for some people, like myself 🤔And by the way, I noticed that usually you put an eye cream or whatever only on the under eye area, but you don’t put any skincare products on the eyelids? I think it would help a lot to keep the eyelids more fresh and youthful, and I think it feels very freshening and nourishing for the eyes 🌸

    • @Frenchforaday
      @Frenchforaday  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Karin 😘 It depends on the face mask. Some face masks don't need to be rinsed off. You can just apply the rest of your skincare on top. I am very carefully with face masks that I use. The masks from Genifique work very well on my sensitive skin and I never rinse them off - same with 111skin and La mer. These are my favorites. About the eyelids - I apply just a little cream on my browbone in the evenings. Last summer I've had issues with eye sensitivity and it lasted for 5 moths so now I am afraid to put creams directly on my mobile eyelids. I know it's silly but I've been living in a nightmare last summer. But of course if you can your should use eye cream on the eyelids as well and SPF. I always wear big sunglasses outside even when it's cloudy and I apply the SPF only under my eyes but not on top. As always a very special thank you for watching my videos. Your comments always make my day. Sending you much love. xoxo

    I am a natural blonde with blue eyes and while I do go minimal on my face and do a red lip, I need more on my eyes or I will look like a Dutch Masters painting model. I would be invisible...or at least my eyes would. Can you advise natural light blondes like me?

    • @Frenchforaday
      @Frenchforaday  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Jennifer :) Natural blondes are gorgeous. I think you can try to add some brown kohl eyeliner on the upper eyelid. Don't do a flick, just massage the eyeliner into the roots of the lashes lightly tracing the lash line. Then smudge the eyeliner with a brush. This usually works so beautifully on blondes. Also take a light brown matte (or satin) eyeshadow and apply it with an eyeliner brush on the lower lash line and focusing on the outer part of the eye. This is going to balance the whole look. Also make sure to apply a light wash of color on the eyelid. You can choose light brown color or taupe or grayish colors depending on your preferences. It always looks so beautiful on blondes. xoxo
