You should be aware that the official Fuji hiking season ends on the last week of September so please check the schedule. Originally I wanted to hike the Subashiri trail. I had a hotel booked near Gotemba station up to the last week of my flight to Japan. Upon more research I found that the last bus going back to Gotemba town was around 5:30pm. The first bus leaving for Subashiri 5th station from Gotemba station is 7:35am. It takes about 1 hour to reach the end of the line. It's recommended to rest a bit to acclimatize so my hike wouldn't start until 9am. I've never hiked Fuji before so I didn't know if I will make it back down for the last bus at 5:30pm. Only during Obon week is where there'll be a later bus at 6:35pm. It's generally said that Subashiri trail is a bit harder and longer than Yoshida trail. Dean Newcombe has a Subashiri trail hike video up on TH-cam. It looked like he took the bus, but he also told me he had a car.
Great video. Thanks.
I palan on doing a day hike on Fuji in September. Currently researching if I'll do the Yoshida or Subashiri trail.
