    This is essentially a new civ, and now I'm hyped about these civs variations. I really thought they were going the AoE 2 route with simply different bonuses and at best 1/2 unique units, but this is much bigger in scope.

    Great video and interesting new units, the tower of the Sultan reminds me of the Helepolis from the ancient greeks, they were present in Age of Mythology!

    • @thomasfplm
      @thomasfplm ปีที่แล้ว +1

      More like the Egyptians from AoM, they have a ram that shoots arrows.
      The helepolis is a tanky anti infantry and anti archer unit, more than anti building (it does decent damage to the buildings, but if I'm not mistaken the catapult is better for that).

    I really think they should replace the camel lancers with Arabian Horses, I like what they were doing but Salahdin based his army off of horse cavalry, and he RELIED on horse archers big time, if they could just swap the model for a horse and give it nice armor that would be dope
    An Arabian horses just look really cool, and they were bred just for battle and thriving in that region

      @@coyotesweg3129 I mean ya, but it’s not really a big change they would need to do, they can adjust stats to still make it good against cav, for me as a history buff it just feels weird, it would be like Mongolians riding on camels as their main army, cause they use camels for farming and for trade lol, it’s not a big deal just a small thing that bugged me, when I think of the Ayyubids or Salahdin, it’s how much he based his plans on his cavalry, and horse archers and riders, it’s not a big deal and I do love the camel de-buff on horses

    • @ridan6155

    Wa alaykum salam brother. What a perfect way to end this video
    On the tower of sultan, i personally like their size (based from images), as it makes them look as big as the stone wall. It portrays the menacing image, Just imagine being an archer on wall with the height advantages and the enemy just bring those humongous siege towers/rams, giving their archer height advantage and protection and as protected ladders for assault troops, or as a huge and protected rams to knock down the gate.
    Being able to shoot arrow makes it a more "true" siege tower than the actual siege towers in aoe2 or 4 where you need to ungarison archers to shoot

      I doubt they can pickup 2 relics, but from what Age of Noob said, they might have some kind of ability to either negate the religious abilities from opponents religious units, or some good damage against them (and speed from being mounted).

There were a few Persian Dynasties that rose for a brief moment in this period, and they could have some cool cavalry units, but idk. Also, the Ayuubids are literally Egyptians lol. I would really like to see Vikings or a South East Asian one like Vietnam though, that would be awesome, or Portugal/Castile, or some more Eastern Europe stuff, like Poland or Hungary. The Winged Hussars and the Black Army are some of the most iconic military units of this time period, it would be sooo awesome to see them. The size of the Tower of the Sultan is due to buildings and units simply using a different scale. If buildings were as large as they should be, then the tower would probably seem even too small. Units are already too big compared to buildings. Buildings generally are way too small compared to units. The dimensions of the game just break down, if you want to have a unit large enough to tower over walls, but still have the correct proportions in relation to other units.

    The siege tower is not too big the buildings are too small! The towers on the barracks are so dinky compared to the units. AOE never had perfect scaling which is understanable but AOE4 definitely has the most noticeable tiny buildings.

    Greate review thanks,but I have one question , since their name was the sultan's army, so I am wondering if they have some kind of hero/commander unit? or used to have one and they removed it?

      @@AgeofNoobI think the names invoking clear and easy to understand mental images for a regular person playing games is a much better choice.
      When the vast majority of people hear "Ayyubids", they won't get excited about trying them out themselves, because they have no idea what is this civilisation, unless they are heavily into medieval history or originate from the region impacted by them and learned about them from school.
      When people hear "Sultan's Army" or "Jade Emperor", they immediately get the rough image of what they could play and experience, and it would draw more attention to the game.
      I get why some people don't like the names, but they don't even consider that from what I'm seeing in the discussions anywhere.
      It's not a poorly chosen name, it's actually a very good consideration from them and understanding how little a regular person knows about things long in the past, even if they are not against the idea of playing a medieval themed game for fun.
      But thanks for the clarification.

    Sounds like devs investing in those factions far more than they did with the original. Ayyubids look far more sophisticated in terms of mechanics and strategy when compared to English and French. That concerns me, in the long term the more expansions players get, the more sophisticated factions would get. At least that's my opinion.

    • @royasturias1784
      @royasturias1784 ปีที่แล้ว

      Variant civilizations, a.k.a what I, an RTS geek, would call subfactions by any appropriate term in the AoE glossary
      The variant civ, despite sharing the same looks and mechanics of the parent civ since game launch, is different in lore, technology, powers, specialization. Example: GLA Stealth General (Prince Kassad) in CnC Generals Zero Hour that focuses on stealth and ambushes, like getting the GPS Scrambler support power earlier than vanilla GLA faction, but losing certain units to be produced and you have to make do with the others
