I'm happy you reacted to them. I rly love this group and all their songs cause they have kind of an unique style which I rly like, I must say it's not for everyone. It's very typical for korean Boygroups/bands to mix different music genres and don't rly have that one specific genre than other musicians, but for me that's the fun in this, you never know what kind of music you get and for someone who loves many music genres it's perfect for me ^^

Hey! A two for one review! One for the song and the other for the Avengers video game! Haha!
You actually got the pronunciation of their name (Xdinary Heroes) right.
I was really surprised with the score. Considering how you were struggling so much before you announced it I thought it was going to be in the low 6s or 5s. Really surprising. Also surprising that despite you giving it a solid score you said you didn't like it. Ha!
Anyway, it's cool that in the reaction we got a rare case of you actually reacting to what's going on in the music video. That was a nice little extra. You say you don't care about music videos but this music video actually helped you connect with the message of the song believe it or not. And you totally related to it!
Speaking of which, it's interesting you say you don't like going to social events but you do love playing at concerts and interacting with fans afterward. I guess cause at concerts there isn't a lot of people being distracted by looking at their phones. Although at concerts they are using their phones to record!
About me calling them a "Rock" band, I see that this caused confusion with you. I actually use the term "Rock" differently than some people so let me explain. I say "Rock" as more of a general, umbrella term since genres like "Punk" "Hard Rock", Metal", etc... are all actually sub-genres of "Rock". I know many in the Western Rock community like to say "Rock and Metal" but that phrase never made sense to me because they are not two separate music genres since Metal is a sub-genre of Rock. They usually mean "Hard Rock and Metal" since those are two different sub-genres. If I'm dealing with a band that has a wide range of sound in their discography, instead of listing all the different sub-genres they do, I many times will just call them a "Rock band". In this case, Xdinary Heroes are incorporating different elements in many of their songs at the same time so I thought of just calling them a "Rock" band to encompass it all.
In regards to having many differently elements in it, a lot of that has to do with what I've said many times before in previous comment sections about Rock music (I'm using it as a general term here) in South Korea. It's never been really mainstream so if bands want to have a chance of mainstream success in South Korea it's either vanilla Pop Rock, Soft Rock Ballads or in the case of this specific track from Xdinary Heroes, combining many different non-Rock elements. This is actually why they have a person on synth alongside a keyboard player. I know that they can be considered the same thing but the way they function in this group is different from each other. That synth plays a big role in what they have been putting out so far. If I had to classify them as one genre, I'd go with "Pop Rock" but like I said they are combining many elements together. For example, the chorus here is "Pop Punk" but the sections apart from the chorus go in and out of synth and as you very well noticed even Hip Hop. The synth player and one of the guitarists double as rappers for the group whenever they want to throw some Hip Hop vibes which is often.
You say you are curious to listen to some more of them so I will add the latest main single they dropped as one of my requests for next time. 😁

JYP is good about reacting to the MV's but TH-cam only likes you listening to up to 4 songs in one video. They have a lot of great music and excellent covers 🖤 the first mini album Hello World I would say pop punk the second Overload more rock

Thank you for giving serious thought to your review, even though the style is so unfamiliar to you. :)

hey 7.4 that’s not bad! it’s higher than what i expected :) xdh is (one of) my ults but i can understand where you’re coming from, especially since you were told “rock band”. i would say telling that to a heavy metal/punk rock fan is misleading. it’s defined under “k-rock” which i guess is more of a blend of the k-pop genre and rock. (i know “k-pop” can be a diverse genre but in general, it can feel sort of processed which is my point). this group is also under JYP Entertainment which is a very big K-pop label (houses TWICE, Stray Kids, NMIXX, etc) so the music is gonna really lean toward that “K-pop” sound
edit: i realized this is an older video and you seem to have reacted to a lot more of xdinary heroes after this 😭 i’m glad you kept checking them out tho!

I'm the one who requested this and all the Xdinary Hero reactions that David has done. There is nothing misleading about calling Xdinary Heroes a "Rock band". Rock music is music that is based on the electric guitar. Rock is not limited to "hard, edgy music". David uses the term "Rock" as a synonym for "Hard Rock". "Hard Rock" is its own sub-genre of Rock. It does not matter that Xdinary Heroes has Pop in their music. There is a genre of Rock for that too. It's called "Pop Rock". Xdinary Heroes are very much a Rock band.

@@DaRunningManSubs yeah i realize my choice of words was bad, but i think i got confused bc of him using rock and hard rock as synonyms kinda

I would not call this a rock band first off secondly the song didn't really have any impact on me I was more confused than anything else and when it comes to social events I don't understand them nowadays especially when you just stare at your phone that's not socializing that's just being lazy in my opinion that's why whenever I'm hanging out with friends or family I turn my phone off for the most part

Haha that's what the song is kind of about! If you notice when the boy blows out the candles, everyone's just on their phones. They're saying "why are we celebrating getting closer to death, and why is it all just empty wishes? No one actually cares." That sort of thing

That's actually one of the message of this song a portion of the lyrics even says "celebration with no feelings"
