    Is third degree price discrimination generally benefiting to the firm?

      Yes, it allows them to earn higher revenues and also permits them to make better use of spare capacity. Their potential for earning supernormal profit is greater as well.

    why won't anyone explain 1st degree discrimination properly? I believe no one understands it except for the theorist who came up with it.

      What would you like to know? It’s pure price discrimination. It is almost impossible to find a seller that can charge every different customer exactly what they are willing to pay.

      @@EnhanceTuition thank you for replying. I googled it, i now understand that it, you explained it correctly but i suppose I needed a more thorough one because it's easy to confuse it with the original consumer surplus maximization concept.
